Dodgers Walk Off Royals as Blake Snell Returns from Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied for a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over the Kansas City Royals in 10 innings Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Blake Snell, activated from the 60-day injured list earlier in the day, started and pitched six innings of one-run ball, striking out 10 batters in a commanding return. Mookie Betts hit his 14th homer in the second inning, ending a 66 at-bat drought. Kansas City scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take the lead, but Max Muncy singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. The victory gave Los Angeles its first series win of August.

Alonso, Henderson and Encarnacion-Strand Homer as Orioles Top Twins 5-2
Pete Alonso, Gunnar Henderson and Christian Encarnacion-Strand each homered and collected three hits apiece as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 Tuesday night in Minneapolis. Alonso hit a two-run homer in the first inning, his team-leading 26th, and Henderson’s two-run shot in the second gave Baltimore a quick 4-0 lead. Encarnacion-Strand’s blast to the second deck above the bullpens in left center traveled an estimated 460 feet, Baltimore’s longest home run of the season. Starter Brandon Young allowed two runs on six hits over six innings to earn the win. Bailey Ober allowed five runs and three homers in six innings to take the loss.

Eury Pérez Outduels Paul Skenes as Marlins Blank Pirates 2-0
Eury Pérez allowed three hits over seven innings, Esteury Ruiz homered, and the Miami Marlins defeated Paul Skenes and the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 Tuesday night in Miami. Pérez struck out three straight Pirates to open the game and surrendered only three singles — two in the third inning and one in his final frame. The right-hander fanned seven and walked two on 100 pitches. Michael Petersen struck out two in the eighth before Pete Fairbanks earned his 18th save in 21 opportunities with a 1-2-3 ninth. Miami completed its 12th shutout of the season and won three consecutive games after a four-game losing streak.

Martín Pérez Extends Scoreless Streak to 18, Braves Blank Mets 4-0
Martín Pérez pitched six scoreless innings to push his active scoreless streak to 18 — third-longest among active starters in the majors — as Ozzie Albies and Matt Olson homered to lead the Atlanta Braves past the New York Mets 4-0 Tuesday night at Truist Park. Pérez held the Mets, who put runners on base in each of the first four innings, scoreless before Albies led off the fifth with a solo home run. Olson added his 35th homer of the season in the eighth, a two-run shot. Nolan McLean pitched well in a losing effort for New York but received no offensive support.
Pallante and Cardinals Bullpen Shut Out Phillies 2-0 on Pereira Homer
Andre Pallante allowed four hits and three walks over six innings while Everson Pereira homered as the St. Louis Cardinals blanked the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Pereira’s fifth home run of the season in the eighth — his first since being claimed off waivers from the White Sox last week — gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead. Cardinals relievers then survived a bases-loaded jam with no outs, as Ryne Stanek retired Luis Arraez on a 3-2-3 double play and J.T. Realmuto on a fly out after Caleb Ferguson walked three straight Phillies. Riley O’Brien pitched a scoreless ninth for his 30th save.

Cubs Rally for 8-6 Win Over Nationals, Move Season-Best 20 Games Over .500
Pete Crow-Armstrong, Alex Bregman and Seiya Suzuki homered as the Chicago Cubs rallied from an early deficit to beat the Washington Nationals 8-6 Tuesday night in Washington. Crow-Armstrong’s third-inning shot, his 27th of the season, hit the facade of the third deck in right field and traveled an estimated 437 feet. Bregman hit his 13th homer and went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while Suzuki added his 20th in the eighth to push the lead to 8-4. Washington built a 3-1 edge on CJ Abrams’ two-run first-inning homer, his 29th, and Jacob Young’s home run in the second. Chicago improved to 69-50, a season-best 20 games over .500.

Merrill’s Two-Run Homer and Miller’s 30th Save Power Padres Past Brewers 3-2
Jackson Merrill hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning and Mason Miller earned his NL-leading 30th save as the San Diego Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 Tuesday night in San Diego. The Padres trailed 2-1 entering the seventh when Ty France singled with one out and Merrill followed with his 19th homer on an 83 mph changeup from starter Logan Henderson. Miller, tied for second in the majors with 30 saves behind Bryan Baker’s 34, worked the ninth inning, issuing one walk and striking out one batter in a scoreless frame. San Diego has won three straight and moved within 8.5 games of NL West-leading Los Angeles.

De La Cruz Sacrifice Fly Caps Reds Comeback, Cincinnati Edges White Sox 5-4 in 10
Elly De La Cruz drove in automatic runner Matt McLain with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning as the Cincinnati Reds overcame a three-run deficit to defeat the Chicago White Sox 5-4 Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. White Sox starter Sean Burke allowed just one run on three hits over seven innings, and Chicago led 4-1 entering the eighth before Cincinnati rallied to tie the game. De La Cruz delivered the decisive blow in extras. Brock Burke earned the win and Emilio Pagan recorded his 14th save with a perfect 10th inning. The Reds snapped a three-game losing streak with the comeback victory.

Marlins All-Star Kyle Stowers Placed on Injured List with Hamstring Strain
The Miami Marlins placed All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to August 10, with a left hamstring strain. Stowers was hurt in the fifth inning of Miami’s 12-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, grimacing as he rounded first base after hitting a two-run single before being replaced by pinch runner Leo Jimenez. Manager Clayton McCullough described the injury as a Grade 1 hamstring strain and expects Stowers to miss a couple of weeks. It is Stowers’ second IL stint of the season — he also missed time earlier with a right hamstring strain. Infielder Graham Pauley was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville.
