Skubal Fans 11 in First Dodger Win; Tucker’s Two-Run Single Caps Comeback
Tarik Skubal struck out 11 batters over seven innings Saturday night to earn his first victory as a Los Angeles Dodger, recovering from a three-run first inning to shut down Pittsburgh for the game’s final 18 outs. The Pirates went 0-for-17 with 11 strikeouts in their second and third times through the order as Skubal allowed no more runs after the first. Kyle Tucker singled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the fifth inning to complete the comeback. Tanner Scott worked the ninth for the save as Los Angeles won its fifth straight game and improved to 79–51.

Painter Fans Eight in Seven Innings; Schwarber Hits MLB-Leading 38th as Phillies Win 8th Straight
Philadelphia rookie Andrew Painter struck out eight batters in seven strong innings as the Phillies rolled over the St. Louis Cardinals 12–3 to extend their winning streak to eight games. Every Phillies starter recorded at least one hit, finishing with 15 total. Quinn Mathews (0–2) allowed seven earned runs on 10 hits in five innings for St. Louis. Philadelphia improved to 72–58, sitting three games back of division-leading Atlanta.

Bauers’ 12-Pitch Homer Sparks Milwaukee; Brewers Sit Atop All of Baseball at 81–49
Milwaukee improved to 81–49 on Saturday — the best record in the majors — topping the Atlanta Braves 4–1 behind Jake Bauers’ tiebreaking two-run home run and six strong innings from Logan Henderson. Bauers capped a 12-pitch plate appearance, fouling off seven straight pitches before launching a 413-foot blast to center field in the third inning to give Milwaukee the lead for good. Henderson (8–2) allowed one run on five hits while striking out four. The loss dropped Atlanta to 75–55 and extended the Braves’ skid to five losses in their last six games.

Cease Takes No-Hitter Into 7th; Blue Jays Snap Yankees’ Five-Game Streak
Dylan Cease carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning Saturday as the Toronto Blue Jays snapped the New York Yankees’ five-game winning streak with a 4–3 victory. Cease’s bid ended with two outs in the seventh on a Jazz Chisholm Jr. single, with the right-hander finishing with eight strikeouts, two hits, and five walks over 6⅔ innings. Nathan Lukes’ eighth home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the decisive blow. Yankees starter Ryan Weathers was pulled in the fourth inning with left forearm discomfort and is headed for further imaging.

Beavers’ Pinch Double Ends It in 10th; Basallo’s Pinch Homer Tied It First
Dylan Beavers laced a pinch-hit double to right-center field leading off the 10th inning Saturday night to score Leody Taveras and give the Baltimore Orioles a 3–2 walk-off victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. Samuel Basallo set the stage with a tying two-run pinch homer off Kevin Kelly in the eighth inning after Tampa Bay had led 2–0 on Liam Hicks’ solo shot and a Junior Caminero RBI single. Pete Alonso extended his career-high hitting streak to 14 games with two hits in the win. Rico Garcia (5–1) earned the win in relief as Baltimore improved to 63–67.

Eli White’s Reviewed Slide Completes Walk-Off Rally; Red Sox Erase 2–0 Deficit
Boston Red Sox rallied for three runs in the ninth inning Saturday night to defeat the San Francisco Giants 3–2, with Eli White scoring the winning run on a headfirst slide upheld after video review. Trailing 2–0 entering the ninth, the Red Sox completed a dramatic comeback when Wilyer Abreu hit a grounder to first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who made a diving stop and threw home for an attempted force out — White was ruled safe, and the Giants’ challenge failed to overturn the call. Chicago Cubs pitcher Kade Anderson made his MLB debut Saturday, becoming the first player from the 2025 draft class to reach the major leagues. Anderson started at Seattle and allowed three earned runs in 5⅔ innings before turning it over to the bullpen. The Cubs held the lead entering the ninth inning but the Mariners rallied for three runs off reliever Jacob Webb (6–3) to complete a 5–4 walk-off win. Michael Rucker (1–4) earned the win for Seattle in relief. Chicago fell to 74–56 in the NL Central, while Seattle improved to 62–68.

Johnson Carries No-Hit Bid Into 6th; Angels Combine for One-Hitter to Blank Rangers
Los Angeles Angels rookie Ryan Johnson carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning — the second time he has done so this season — as three Angels pitchers combined for a one-hitter in a 3–0 shutout of the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Shortstop Zach Neto went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, scoring twice to power the Angels offense. The shutout was Los Angeles’ 11th of the season, while Texas was blanked for the 10th time this year and has been shut out twice in its last four games. Los Angeles improved to 52–78; Texas fell to 64–66.

Weathers Exits With Forearm Discomfort; Yankees Await Imaging Results
New York Yankees left-hander Ryan Weathers was pulled Saturday from his start against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning with left forearm discomfort, with the team announcing he was headed for further imaging. The 26-year-old had been one of New York’s better pitchers of late, posting a 2.27 ERA in seven starts dating back to July 20, including a stretch from July 25 through August 16 with a 0.85 ERA in 31 2/3 innings. Weathers has a history of arm injuries, having missed significant time in both 2024 and 2025 with forearm and lat issues.
