MLBPA Files First CBA Proposal, Calls for $1.5M Minimum Salary and Salary Floor
The MLBPA filed its first formal collective bargaining proposal on Wednesday, with the current CBA expiring December 1. The union’s opening bid calls for raising the minimum salary from $780,000 to $1.5 million, expanding the pre-arbitration bonus pool from $50 million to $180 million, raising the competitive balance tax threshold from $244 million to $300 million, and instituting a competitive integrity tax on any team spending under $150 million. Players would gain free agency after five years for those at least 30 years old. The proposal does not include a salary cap, which MLB is expected to push for in its counter-proposal due Thursday.

Left-hander Cristópher Sánchez made Phillies history Wednesday in San Diego, extending his scoreless innings streak to 44⅔ frames and surpassing Grover Cleveland Alexander’s 1911 franchise record of 41 consecutive scoreless innings. Sánchez (6-2) allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked no one across seven innings, becoming the sixth pitcher in MLB history to throw at least seven scoreless innings in five consecutive starts. Trea Turner homered and Kyle Schwarber added an RBI single to provide Philadelphia’s offense in the 3-0 shutout. The Phillies moved to 28-27 on the season.

David Sandlin Retires 18 Straight in Dazzling MLB Debut as White Sox Rout Twins 15-2
The Chicago White Sox routed the Minnesota Twins 15-2 Wednesday behind a stunning major league debut from rookie right-hander David Sandlin, who retired 18 consecutive batters after allowing a leadoff home run to Byron Buxton. May kept the Brewers hitless through seven innings before the eighth proved costly: Garrett Mitchell led off with a double, Christian Yelich drove in Mitchell to tie the game, and an error by shortstop Masyn Winn on a Jackson Chourio grounder allowed the go-ahead run to score. Trevor Megill recorded his sixth save in seven chances for Milwaukee.

Gilbert Shuts Down Athletics, Mariners Complete Sweep and Move into AL West First Place
Logan Gilbert held the Oakland Athletics to five hits over six shutout innings, improving to 3-4, as the Seattle Mariners won 9-1 Wednesday to complete a series sweep at RingCentral Coliseum. Blue Jays Edge Marlins 2-1, Okamoto’s Go-Ahead Homer Lifts Bullpen-Heavy Toronto

Diamondbacks Complete Second Giants Sweep of 2026, Win Fourth Straight with 3-2 Edging
The Arizona Diamondbacks edged the San Francisco Giants 3-2 on Wednesday at Oracle Park, completing their second three-game sweep of San Francisco this season and extending their winning streak to four games. Arizona improved to 30-24, sitting 4.5 games behind NL West-leading Los Angeles in a tight divisional race that also includes the San Diego Padres at 31-23. The D-backs have gone 6-0 against the Giants in 2026, the first time that has occurred in two consecutive sweeps against the same opponent.
