GM Sweeps Detroit Poles as Cadillac and Corvette Lock Out Both Front Rows
General Motors scored a dominant qualifying sweep at the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic on Friday, with Cadillac and Corvette locking out both front rows. Earl Bamber claimed the GTP Motul Pole Award in the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R with a lap of 1m05.313s around the 1.645-mile downtown street circuit, ahead of Wayne Taylor Racing's No. 40 entry driven by Louis Deletraz. In GTD PRO, Alexander Sims set the benchmark in the No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R at 1m09.354s, with Nicky Catsburg's No. 4 Corvette just 0.043 seconds behind to complete an all-Pratt Miller front row. The 100-minute race runs Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET on NBC.

Heinrich Leads IMSA GTP Championship but Detroit Carries Playoff Consequences

IMSA Issues Corrected Detroit BoP as Porsche 963s Receive Weight Increases
IMSA issued a corrected Balance of Performance update for the Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic on Friday, adjusting weight allocations across the GTP field ahead of Saturday's 100-minute race. Both specifications of the Porsche 963 received weight increases, with the factory Penske Motorsport cars returning to 1,100 kilograms as used at Long Beach. The JDC-Miller customer Porsche 963 was set at 1,082 kilograms. BMW emerges as the performance favorite given its technical strengths at lower speeds characteristic of Detroit's tight nine-turn, 1.645-mile street layout. The corrections were announced after an IMSA spokesperson acknowledged an issue with the original data that was discovered and fixed.

Le Mans Expands Hyperpole Field to 15 Cars and Revises Driver Qualification Rules
The 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans will feature a revised Hyperpole qualifying format, expanding the field progressing from the opening session from 12 to 15 cars per class. Three additional LMP2 and LMGT3 entrants will now compete in Hyperpole 1 ahead of the June 13-14 race. Cars finishing eleventh to fifteenth in Hyperpole 1 lock in their grid positions; only the top ten advance to the decisive 15-minute Hyperpole 2 shoot-out for pole. A new driver allocation rule in LMP2 requires only the crew's lowest-rated FIA driver to participate in the opening qualifying session. The LMGT3 restriction limiting Hyperpole participation to Silver-rated drivers has also been removed.

Le Mans 2026 News Notebook: Final Liveries Unveiled as Paddock Preparations Accelerate
Final livery reveals headlined Le Mans 24 Hours preparations on Friday. The No. 150 Richard Mille AF Corse Ferrari will carry a Brazil-inspired livery for Custodio Toledo, Riccardo Agostini and factory driver Lilou Wadoux. Kessel Racing also revealed its No. 74 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 Evo scheme for Dustin Blattner, Lorenzo Patrese and Dennis Marschall. The 2026 Ligier European Series support race, running alongside Le Mans for the first time, has attracted 39 entries, expected to be one of the largest grids in the event's history.
