Texas Tech QB Sorsby Awaits Ruling After NCAA Eligibility Hearing
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby and the NCAA awaited a ruling Monday after a two-hour injunction hearing in Lubbock County District Court. Judge Ken Curry heard arguments from Sorsby’s legal team, who called the NCAA’s gambling stance “deeply hypocritical.” The NCAA denied Sorsby’s reinstatement request this spring after he acknowledged betting more than 40 times on Indiana football totaling over $1,400 during his time with the Hoosiers, though never against his own team. Curry requested additional documentation and did not rule immediately. Sorsby’s attorneys sought a decision by June 15 so he could evaluate the NFL supplemental draft before a June 22 registration deadline.

Mike Leach Appears on College Football Hall of Fame Ballot for First Time
The National Football Foundation released the 2027 College Football Hall of Fame ballot Monday, with late coach Mike Leach on it for the first time. Leach, who died in December 2022, was previously ineligible because his career winning percentage of .596 fell short of the old .600 threshold. The NFF lowered that requirement to .595 last year, opening the door for Leach, who went 158-106 in 21 seasons at Texas Tech, Washington State and Mississippi State, coaching 19 bowl teams and spreading the Air Raid offense across college football. Former Heisman winners Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III also headline the ballot; inductees will be announced in January 2027.

The commitment arrives as college football enters its busiest recruiting period, with dozens of top 2027 prospects weighing options during official campus visits. Auburn’s class continues to take shape through June, when programs across the country push aggressively to secure commitments before recruiting activity slows heading toward fall.

College football’s summer official visit stretch opened Monday as Rivals published its assessment of the 15 biggest uncommitted 5-star prospects in the 2027 cycle. The report covers where each recruitment stands entering June’s pivotal visit weekends, including which programs are leading, which flips appear possible, and which elite prospects remain genuinely undecided heading into the most active month of the annual recruiting calendar.
