FIA Issues Post-Summit Statement: Energy Management Tweaks Confirmed as Three-Meeting Timeline Set
The FIA has released its formal statement following Thursday’s opening regulation summit, confirming “a commitment to making tweaks to some aspects of the regulations in the area of energy management.” The session brought technical directors from all ten teams together with FIA and FOM representatives for an initial data review. Two further meetings follow: a sporting regulations discussion on April 15 and a technical session on April 16. A high-level stakeholder meeting on April 20 will review and approve preferred options. Any agreed changes are targeted for implementation before the Miami Grand Prix on May 1.

Inside the April 9 Meeting: How F1’s Technical Minds Tackled the 2026 Energy Crisis
Details from Thursday’s closed-door session reveal a structured technical data review rather than an open policy debate. Technical directors from all ten teams attended alongside FIA and power unit manufacturer representatives, while team principals were excluded. Crash.net reports that “difficult topics” were addressed given the fiercely competitive nature of the stakeholders. Three problem areas dominated: the closing-speed differential exposed by Bearman’s 50G Suzuka accident, the energy management demands that effectively turn qualifying into a fuel-conservation exercise, and broader performance instability at straight ends. The FIA characterised the atmosphere as one of “constructive dialogue.”

Verstappen Won’t Rule Out Quitting F1 as Wolff Labels Red Bull’s Woes the Real Culprit
Max Verstappen has stopped short of ruling out F1 retirement if the 2026 regulations remain unchanged, calling the cars “anti-racing” and comparing race preparation to Mario Kart. Toto Wolff pushed back publicly, suggesting Verstappen’s frustration stems largely from Red Bull’s own “horror show” RB22 rather than the regulations themselves. Wolff argued that energy management makes F1 “pure racing,” with more overtaking than the previous era produced. Verstappen sits ninth in the drivers’ standings with 12 points — 60 behind championship leader Kimi Antonelli — having scored in only one of three races so far.

Red Bull Technical Chief Wache Faces Growing Internal Pressure Over RB22’s Chronic Failings
Reports from GPFans indicate that Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache is under mounting internal scrutiny following the RB22’s troubled opening to 2026. The car is the first Red Bull chassis developed without Adrian Newey, and early races have exposed persistent weight and simulator correlation problems. According to the report, Red Bull’s technical staff are divided over the direction taken under Wache’s leadership. Verstappen has gathered just 12 points from three races, while teammate Isack Hadjar has added four. Red Bull’s 16-point constructors’ haul leaves them sixth overall — level on points with Alpine, and 119 behind Mercedes.

Bearman Confirmed Fit for Miami After Bruised Knee Heals from 50G Suzuka Crash
Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has confirmed Oliver Bearman is on course to be fully fit for the Miami Grand Prix after bruising his right knee in his 50G accident at Suzuka. Bearman avoided fractures when he took to the grass at Spoon Curve entry after braking hard to avoid Franco Colapinto’s energy-depleted Alpine, the two cars meeting at a closing differential of roughly 50 kilometres per hour. With five weeks between Japan and Miami, Komatsu expressed confidence that Bearman will be completely recovered. Bearman remains one of just seven drivers to have scored championship points in the opening three rounds.
