BMW M Team WRT Arrives at Le Mans as WEC Championship Leaders, Eyes First 24-Hour Victory
BMW M Team WRT arrives at Le Mans this week as WEC Hypercar championship leaders for the first time in the manufacturer's modern programme. Following their maiden Hypercar victory at the 6 Hours of Spa in May — where René Rast, Robin Frijns and Sheldon van der Linde secured a BMW one-two — team principal Vincent Vosse stated: 'I absolutely think we can dream of something special at Le Mans now.' BMW leads the manufacturers' standings with 59 points, seven clear of Toyota. At Le Mans, the winner receives 50 points rather than the standard 25 for a six-hour race, meaning the title picture can shift dramatically over 24 hours.

Toyota Adds Masson as Fourth Driver for Both TR010 Hypercars at Le Mans Test Day
Esteban Masson has been named as a fourth driver for both Toyota TR010 Hybrid Hypercars at Sunday's Le Mans Test Day. The French driver joins Brendon Hartley, Ryô Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi in one entry, and Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Nyck de Vries in the other. BMW M Team WRT has similarly added Marco Wittmann and Philipp Eng across both its M Hybrid V8 entries. The Test Day on 7 June features two three-hour sessions on the 13.626-kilometre Circuit de la Sarthe, giving teams final data before the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans begins on 13 June.

Michelin’s 50%-Renewable Hypercar Tyres Face Biggest Le Mans Test to Date on Sunday
All three compounds of Michelin's new-for-2026 Pilot Sport Endurance Hypercar slick will face their most extensive evaluation to date at Sunday's Le Mans Test Day. The new rubber features 50 per cent renewable and recycled materials and has been progressively validated through the season's first two WEC rounds. Sunday's sessions on the 13.626-kilometre Circuit de la Sarthe will allow teams to assess heat buildup, degradation and wear rates. Toyota has targeted extended stints, seeking at least four-stint runs with the hard compound. Compound choices and stint-length strategies must be finalised before Free Practice opens on 10 June.

Le Mans Scrutineering Opens Friday With 62 Cars and 186 Drivers Across Three Classes
Scrutineering for the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans opens Friday 5 June at Place de la République in central Le Mans, with 62 cars undergoing two days of technical and administrative checks. Inter Europol Competition's No. 43 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2 leads the process at 10:00 on Friday, with Team WRT's No. 69 BMW M4 LMGT3 Evo closing it Saturday at 12:40. The event is free to attend, with fans able to see all 186 drivers and three car categories up close. A city-centre parade follows, with cars completing three laps of the Le Mans street circuit, one more than in previous years.

Toyota TR LH2 and Ligier Hydrogen Racer to Run Demonstration Laps at Le Mans Race Week
Toyota's liquid hydrogen-fuelled TR LH2 prototype and a Ligier hydrogen combustion racer will complete demonstration laps at the Circuit de la Sarthe during Le Mans race week. The TR LH2 is built on the same platform as Toyota's TR010 Hybrid Hypercar and will be driven by three-time Le Mans winner Kazuki Nakajima on both Thursday and Saturday. The Ligier machine uses a hydrogen combustion engine derived from a Maserati Nettuno 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit, described as producing hypercar-level performance. Both appearances are intended to demonstrate hydrogen propulsion as a viable pathway for future endurance racing regulations.

Le Mans 2026 Adopts New Two-Stage Hyperpole Qualifying With 15 Cars Advancing Per Class
The 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans introduces a revised Hyperpole qualifying format, increasing the number of cars advancing to the first session from 12 to 15 per class. Hyperpole 1 runs for 20 minutes; cars finishing 11th through 15th take those grid positions and do not progress further. Hyperpole 2 gives the top 10 a 15-minute shootout for the front of the grid. A new driver eligibility rule requires the lowest FIA-rated driver to take the wheel during standard qualifying. In LMGT3, the previous restriction limiting Hyperpole participation to Silver-rated drivers only has been removed, giving teams greater strategic choice.

Honda’s Ohta Set for Le Mans Debut in Proton LMP2 as Updated Entry List Confirmed
Honda factory driver Kakunoshin Ohta will make his Le Mans debut in Proton Competition's No. 9 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2, the updated entry list for Sunday's Test Day confirms. IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Returns to Mid-Ohio for Sprint Races This Weekend
The IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge returns to sprint racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend for the first time since February, with Race 1 on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. ET and Race 2 on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. ET. Live coverage is available on Peacock and IMSA's YouTube channel. Westin Workman leads the Grand Sport X class by 240 points after winning all four rounds to date in his No. 8 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4. Oscar Tunjo leads the overall standings by 250 points with three wins from six sprint starts.
