Carolina Hurricanes Bring Stanley Cup to Downtown Raleigh in Championship Parade

The Carolina Hurricanes brought their second Stanley Cup championship to the streets of Raleigh on Saturday, hosting a 2026 Championship Celebration starting at 11 a.m. in downtown Raleigh. The parade began at the intersection of Hillsborough and St. Mary’s Street, winding through downtown before concluding at Davie Street. A rally at City Plaza followed, where players, coaches, and special guests addressed the crowd. City officials expected more than 100,000 fans, potentially making it the largest event in Raleigh’s history. It is the first Stanley Cup parade for the city since the Hurricanes captured the championship in 2006.

TRADE

Multiple Teams Exploring Trade for Buffalo Sabres Defenseman Bo Byram, per TSN

TSN’s Darren Dreger reported Thursday that multiple teams are exploring a trade with the Buffalo Sabres involving defenseman Bo Byram, who has one year remaining on his contract before reaching unrestricted free agency. Byram, 25, posted a career-high 42 points — 11 goals and 31 assists — in 2025–26, with a plus-15 rating and averaged more than 22 minutes per game. His $6.25 million cap hit is financially manageable for potential suitors, while Buffalo’s top defensive spot is already occupied by Rasmus Dahlin. Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekalainen had previously expressed interest in a long-term extension, but Buffalo is now listening to trade offers.
