Chase Burns Wins 8th Straight Decision as Reds Top Yankees 4-1
Chase Burns pitched five innings of one-run ball, and Tyler Stephenson hit a three-run home run in the fourth as the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Yankees 4-1 Sunday. DeLuca’s Go-Ahead Homer Carries Rays Past Nationals 4-3
Jonny DeLuca hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning on Father’s Day and Ryan Vilade also homered as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Washington Nationals 4-3 Sunday at Tropicana Field. Nick Martinez allowed three runs in six innings before Garrett Cleavinger earned the win in relief. Kevin Kelly worked a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season. The Rays improved to 26-10 at home, winning their eighth home series in the last nine. Washington, which had won five consecutive road series, was denied a sixth straight on Sunday. C.J. Abrams homered for his third consecutive game for the Nationals.
Langford Homer, Eovaldi’s Nine Strikeouts Power Rangers Past Padres 4-3
Wyatt Langford hit a three-run home run and Nathan Eovaldi struck out a season-high nine batters across six innings as the Texas Rangers beat the San Diego Padres 4-3 Sunday at Globe Life Field. Josh Jung added a go-ahead RBI single to help Texas claim the series finale. Lawlar exited Friday’s game after legging out an infield single, and subsequent imaging confirmed the hamstring strain. Manager Torey Lovullo said there is some hope Lawlar could beat a potential four-to-six-week recovery timeline, though a return before the All-Star break appears unlikely. The Diamondbacks summoned Tim Tawa to fill the roster spot and shifted Jorge Barrosa to center field. Arizona stands at 19-20 in the NL West.
