Rankin Powers Edmonton Past Winless Redblacks 40-17, Elks Jump to First in West
Running back Justin Rankin scored three touchdowns Thursday as the Edmonton Elks routed the winless Ottawa Redblacks 40-17 at Commonwealth Stadium, moving the Elks into first place in the West Division at 4-1. Quarterback Cody Fajardo completed 19 of 24 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, while Edmonton's defence intercepted Redblacks quarterback Jake Maier four times — two by Kordell Jackson and one each from Tyrell Ford and Chelen Garnes. Rankin carried 14 times for 107 yards and added three catches for 43 yards. Ottawa fell to 0-5, the league's only winless team through five weeks of play.
Collaros Out with Neck Injury; Dru Brown Named Winnipeg’s Starter for Friday Night
Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros will miss Friday's game against the Toronto Argonauts after being placed on the one-game injured list with a neck injury sustained in the Bombers' 14-13 win at Hamilton on July 6. Collaros did not practise Wednesday and was officially ruled out Thursday. Backup Dru Brown, acquired in a trade from Ottawa last month and making his first start for Winnipeg since October 2023, will start at Princess Auto Stadium at 8:30 p.m. EDT. Brown and the Bombers host the Argonauts, with both clubs entering the contest at 2-2 on the season.

Cameron Judge Placed on Injured List, Will Miss Friday’s Argonauts-Bombers Game
Toronto Argonauts Canadian linebacker Cameron Judge has been placed on the one-game injured list with a head injury and will miss Friday's game at Winnipeg, the team announced Thursday. The 31-year-old will be replaced at weak-side linebacker by Owen Goss. Toronto also enters the contest without receiver Nolan Ulm, who remains on the six-game injured list with a shoulder injury. Ottawa Redblacks Return Linebacker K.J. Cloyd to Practice Roster
The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American linebacker K.J. Cloyd to their practice roster, the team announced Thursday. The six-foot-two, 230-pound defender attended Ottawa's training camp this spring but was released as part of final roster cuts, recording five defensive tackles and one special teams tackle in two preseason games. Cloyd subsequently spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos without seeing regular-season NFL game action. He played his final collegiate season at the University of Miami, where he registered 44 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.

Toronto Argonauts Release Canadian Offensive Lineman Anim Dankwah
The Toronto Argonauts have released Canadian offensive lineman Anim Dankwah, the team announced Thursday. The 25-year-old played Toronto's first four regular-season games this year in a depth role. Dankwah joined the Argonauts in 2025 as a CFL rookie — a sixth-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft — playing four regular-season games, including one start at right tackle, before a torn ACL ended his first season.
