Alouettes LB Micah Awe Avoids Suspension, Handed Maximum CFL Fine
Montreal Alouettes linebacker Micah Awe has been assessed the maximum allowable fine by the Canadian Football League for delivering a high hit on Calgary Stampeders quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. during their Week 6 matchup. Awe attended a hearing with the league on Wednesday to discuss the incident, which occurred in the fourth quarter when Adams Jr. rushed up the middle for 11 yards, slid, and was struck in the head by Awe’s arm. A 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty was called on the play. The CFL determined Awe will face no suspension, with the maximum fine equating to approximately $2,361 based on his current contract.

Linebacker Calvin Tiggle Named to 2026 Canadian Football Hall of Fame
Former Canadian Football League linebacker Calvin Tiggle has been named the fourth member of the 2026 Canadian Football Hall of Fame induction class. Tiggle joins receiver Brandon Banks, running back Sean Millington, and defensive end Charleston Hughes in the Class of 2026, with the induction ceremony scheduled for September 17 at Hamilton Stadium. The award-winning linebacker spent eight years in the CFL from 1994 to 2001, accumulating 670 career tackles across 127 games with the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in 1999, the same season he helped Hamilton capture the Grey Cup.
