Hurricanes Sign Forward Viktor Neuchev to One-Year, Two-Way Contract
The Carolina Hurricanes signed forward Viktor Neuchev to a one-year, two-way contract on July 17, worth $850,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 at the AHL level. Neuchev, 22, was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres for Gavin Bayreuther on January 24 after posting 16 points in 34 games with the Rochester Americans. He added 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) in 10 regular-season games with the Chicago Wolves and 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) in 21 playoff games as Chicago reached the Calder Cup Finals. Originally selected by Buffalo in the third round (74th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
Deslauriers Gets Name Engraved on Stanley Cup After Hurricanes Petition Commissioner
Nicolas Deslauriers, 35, had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup on July 17 after the Carolina Hurricanes petitioned the Commissioner for permission to add him. Deslauriers played seven regular-season games and one playoff game for Carolina after being acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers on March 6 for a conditional seventh-round pick — below the 41-game threshold required for automatic engraving. General manager Eric Tulsky called Deslauriers the day before the championship parade to inform him of the petition. “Still thinking about it gives me chills,” Deslauriers said. North Wildwood Mayor Salvatore Zampirri declared July 17 Nicolas Deslauriers Day as more than 1,100 fans attended his Cup celebration.
Hurricanes Assistant GM Tyler Dellow Brings Stanley Cup to New Jersey Hometown
Tyler Dellow, assistant general manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, brought the Stanley Cup to Cranford, N.J. on July 19. The 46-year-old toured the Cranford police station, firehouse, The Cranford Bookstore, and Vanilla Bean Creamery — where four scoops of ice cream were served inside the bowl — before a six-hour block party. Dellow, who founded the analytics blog mc79hockey.com and earned a law degree from the University of Toronto before working for the Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils, joined Carolina to lead data analysis and salary cap work. “It’s really incredible,” he said. GM Eric Tulsky called him “fantastic.”
