Tigers Score in Every Inning of Historic 14-0 Rout of Orioles
The Detroit Tigers put on a historic offensive display Tuesday, scoring in all nine of their turns at bat in a 14-0 rout of the Baltimore Orioles. Eduardo Valencia homered twice and drove in four runs, while Gleyber Torres added a home run and five RBIs. Troy Melton pitched seven innings, allowing just three hits, to improve to 6-1. Kevin McGonigle collected four hits and scored four times, and Javier Baez — activated from the 60-day injured list — contributed three hits and a run. Detroit’s 19 hits dwarfed Baltimore’s three. The Tigers became the 22nd team in major league history to score in every inning of a nine-inning game.

Canzone Homers Twice as Mariners Rally Past Dodgers 7-6
Dominic Canzone slugged two home runs, including a tiebreaking two-run shot in the eighth inning, to lift the Seattle Mariners past the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-6 Tuesday night in a series opener at Dodger Stadium. Canzone’s game-winner, a 414-foot drive off Alex Vesia, scored Julio Rodríguez after he singled and stole second. Cal Raleigh, Rodríguez and Rob Refsnyder — who returned from the injured list before the game — also homered as Seattle matched a season-best with five home runs. The Dodgers grounded into three double plays and squandered three separate one-run leads. Andrés Muñoz recorded his 19th save.

Lewis Walk-Off Triple Lifts Twins 3-2; Buxton Exits with Hip Soreness
Royce Lewis hit a two-run triple with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Minnesota Twins past Kansas City 3-2 on Tuesday. Taj Bradley struck out 10 in six innings, allowing two runs on three hits. The rally began when Victor Caratini singled off Alex Lange, and Brooks Lee walked; Lewis then drove both home with a triple. It was Lange’s third blown save of the season, and Jack Anderson (1-0) earned his first major league win in relief. Center fielder Byron Buxton exited in the fifth with right hip soreness, the same joint that caused him to miss the All-Star Game this month.

Tatis Jr. Records First Five-Hit Game; Walk-Off Sac Fly Wins It for Padres
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 5-for-5 with two RBIs Tuesday night, recording the first five-hit game of his career, as the San Diego Padres rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 8-7 in walk-off fashion. Tatis became the first Padres player with five singles in a game since Adrián González did it on Aug. 11, 2009. San Diego loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth on Jackson Merrill’s leadoff single and two walks, and Xander Bogaerts’ sacrifice fly off Jimmy Herget scored Merrill to end the game. The victory gave the Padres (54-53) their fourth consecutive win. Manny Machado added three hits for San Diego.

Cubs Rout Cardinals 10-2; St. Louis Falls Below .500 for First Time
The Chicago Cubs erupted for seven runs in the first two innings and beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10-2 Tuesday, finishing with 17 hits as St. Louis lost for the ninth time in 12 games since the All-Star break. Ian Happ capped an 11-pitch at-bat with a two-run double to open the scoring. Colin Rea (8-7) pitched six innings and allowed one earned run. Seiya Suzuki had three hits and two RBIs, Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly, and Michael Busch and Nico Hoerner added RBI singles. Starter Michael McGreevy (4-9) lasted just 1⅔ innings, and the Cardinals fell below .500 for the first time this season, at 53-54.

Brewers End Four-Game Road Skid in 8-2 Win Over Giants
Milwaukee rookie Luis Lara drove in three runs and Brice Turang went 3-for-5 with two RBIs as the Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 8-2 Tuesday to end a four-game road skid. Logan Henderson allowed two hits over 5⅔ scoreless innings, striking out seven and staying unbeaten in July at 5-1. Jackson Chourio singled home the first run in the third, and the Brewers pushed three more across on a two-out rally in the fourth to lead 4-1. Lara added an RBI groundout in the fifth and a two-run triple in the seventh to complete the rout. Bryce Eldridge hit a two-run homer for San Francisco in the eighth.

Astros Trade McCullers Jr. and Gordon to Brewers Ahead of Deadline
The Houston Astros agreed Tuesday to trade right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. and left-hander Colton Gordon to the Milwaukee Brewers for minor league outfielder Jadyn Fielder. McCullers, in the final year of a five-year, $85 million extension, has not appeared in the majors since May 13 due to a shoulder injury but has made three solid rehab appearances since returning June 25. Houston will pay approximately $4.2 million of McCullers’ remaining salary while Milwaukee absorbs $2.5 million. The deal also gives the Astros financial breathing room. Milwaukee, whose rotation was depleted when starter Priester had thoracic outlet surgery, adds two arms ahead of the August 3 trade deadline.

Diamondbacks Survive 12-Inning Thriller to Reclaim NL Wild Card Spot
James McCann’s fourth hit of the game, a run-scoring single in the 12th inning, gave the Arizona Diamondbacks an 8-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday and returned them to sole possession of the third National League wild card spot. Arizona led 6-0 heading into the eighth, but Pittsburgh scored three times that frame and then Brandon Lowe and Bryan Reynolds hit back-to-back home runs off Paul Sewald in the ninth to tie the game. Sewald suffered his third blown save in 27 chances. McCann’s walk-off single off Wilbur Dotel ended the game, with Geraldo Carillo (1-0) picking up his first major league win.

Mead (Broken Wrist) and McDonald (Tommy John) Among Day’s IL Moves
Two significant injury updates emerged Tuesday. Curtis Mead, recently acquired by the Boston Red Sox, will be placed on the injured list with a broken left wrist suffered when he was hit by a pitch from Jack Perkins during his debut on Monday. X-rays were initially negative before an MRI confirmed the fracture, and Mead will consult a hand specialist about whether surgery is necessary. Separately, San Francisco Giants starter Trevor McDonald will undergo Tommy John surgery, with an expected recovery of 14 to 16 months that will likely sideline him for all of 2027. McDonald had been on the IL with a moderate UCL sprain.
