Saskatchewan Roughriders Lead 3DownNation Power Rankings as 2026 Full Preseason Slate Begins
The defending Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders sit atop the 3DownNation CFL power rankings as the league enters its first full slate of 2026 preseason games this weekend. The Riders, who defeated the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, have kept their core intact and added depth at key positions. Star quarterback Trevor Harris remains the benchmark at the position after his Grey Cup MVP performance. The BC Lions are ranked second, built around franchise quarterback Nathan Rourke, while the Montreal Alouettes are third with a fully healthy Davis Alexander running the offence for the first time since his hamstring injury in 2025.

Edmonton Elks Defensive Lineman Noah Curtis Returns to Contact Practice After Torn ACL
Edmonton Elks defensive lineman Noah Curtis returned to full contact practice Wednesday for the first time since tearing the ACL in his left knee in June 2025, an injury that ended his season before it began. The six-foot-five, 302-pound Canadian underwent surgery and spent nearly a year in rehabilitation before rejoining his teammates for padded work at Elks training camp. Curtis, 26, was considered one of the most promising young interior defenders in the CFL before the injury. With Curtis and Darien Newell expected healthy this fall, Edmonton believes it has one of the strongest Canadian defensive tackle pairings in the league heading into 2026.

Casey Sayles Calls Tiger-Cats Release ‘Unprofessional,’ Reflects on B.C. Lions Move
BC Lions defensive lineman Casey Sayles spoke out Wednesday about the way his January release from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats was handled, describing the process as ‘unprofessional and embarrassing.’ Sayles, 30, said he accidentally learned of his release through an internal Hamilton staff member, received initial assurances the report was untrue, and was only formally informed hours later by head coach Scott Milanovich. The two-time All-East Division standout recorded 35 tackles and four sacks across 17 games in his final season with Hamilton. Sayles signed a two-year deal with BC shortly after his release and says he is looking forward to contributing to the Lions’ championship push in 2026.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Release Defensive Linemen Michael Fletcher and Arnold Young in Preseason Cuts
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released American defensive linemen Michael Fletcher and Arnold Young on Wednesday, trimming the roster ahead of Saturday’s preseason home opener. Fletcher, 24, was signed out of Appalachian State in February after attending a New York Jets training camp in 2025, while Young was brought aboard after a Division III All-American campaign at Montclair State. Neither player appeared in a regular-season CFL game. The Bombers remain active in building their defensive line depth, having signed three American edge rushers in early May and added Canadian talent throughout the offseason. Winnipeg opens at home on Saturday, May 23.
