Georg Zimmermann Holds Off Tom Pidcock to Win Eschborn-Frankfurt on Home Soil
German champion Georg Zimmermann (Lotto-Intermarché) claimed the biggest win of his career on Friday, outlasting a twelve-rider breakaway to win the 2026 Eschborn-Frankfurt WorldTour classic on German soil. Zimmermann timed his sprint perfectly to deny Tom Pidcock (Pinarello-Q36.5) and Ben Tulett (Visma-Lease a Bike), who completed the podium. The decisive selection formed on the Mammolshain with 36 kilometres to go, as a group of twelve including Tulett, Pidcock, and Alex Baudin (EF Education-EasyPost) clipped clear of the peloton. Despite a furious late chase, the breakaway held on by roughly twenty seconds into Frankfurt. Zimmermann becomes the first German winner of the race since Pascal Ackermann in 2019.
