How to Play MathGrid

The goal

Fill the grid so every row and every column contains each number exactly once (1–4 on the small grid, up to 1–7 on the large one). The grid is divided into outlined cages; the corner label shows a target number and an operation. The numbers in the cage must produce the target using that operation. Every puzzle has exactly one solution.

Cage math

  • 12+ — the cage’s numbers add up to 12.
  • 2− — the difference of the two numbers is 2 (either order).
  • — the numbers multiply to 8.
  • — the larger divided by the smaller is 3 (either order).
  • A single-cell cage is a freebie: write the number in.
  • Unlike sudoku boxes, numbers may repeat inside a cage — just never in a row or column.

Controls

  • Click a cell, then tap a number below the grid or press the number keys. Backspace/0 erases; arrows move; Esc deselects.
  • Pencil notes: ✏️ or P. Auto Candidate Mode fills empty cells with numbers not yet used in their row or column.
  • When a number is fully placed, its button grays out.

Finishing

The timer stops when you solve the grid; wrong entries are highlighted once the grid is full. Sizes: Easy 4×4, Medium 6×6, Hard 7×7.
