Patrick Bailey's Three-Run Homer Silences Dodgers in Pitcher's Duel at Oracle Park
San Francisco catcher Patrick Bailey broke a scoreless tie with a three-run home run off Jack Dreyer in the seventh inning Wednesday, lifting the Giants to a 3-0 win over the Dodgers at Oracle Park. Jung Hoo Lee and Heliot Ramos had singled before Drew Gilbert's sacrifice bunt advanced both to second and third; Bailey drove all three runs home with a blast to deep left-center. Tyler Mahle pitched seven brilliant innings, allowing four hits with five strikeouts. Amed Rosario's Three-Run Blast and Max Fried's Eight Strong Innings Power Yankees to 4-1 Win
Third baseman Amed Rosario delivered the decisive blow Wednesday at Fenway Park, connecting for a three-run home run off Ranger Suarez in the first inning to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead. Rosario added a sacrifice fly in the third for four RBI on the night as New York cruised to a 4-1 victory over Boston. Max Fried was superb on the mound, pitching eight innings and surrendering three hits with nine strikeouts while improving his record to 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA. Yordan Alvarez Homers as Astros Blank Guardians 2-0, Tanner Bibee Falls to 0-3
Yordan Alvarez launched his 11th home run of the season in the first inning Wednesday, a two-run blast off Tanner Bibee that proved to be all the Astros needed in a 2-0 shutout of the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Carlos Correa had doubled to open the inning before Alvarez sent a ball to deep right field. Peter Lambert delivered a quality start with six innings of three-hit, scoreless pitching while striking out eight, improving to 1-1. Bibee fell to 0-3 as the Guardians failed to score despite loading the bases with two out in the ninth. Enyel De Los Santos earned his third save.
