Phillies Walk Off Giants Twice in One Day, First to Do It in 22 Years

The Philadelphia Phillies became the first team since July 24, 1998, to win both games of a doubleheader via walk-off, sweeping the San Francisco Giants 3-2 and 6-5 at Citizens Bank Park on Friday. In Game 1, rookie center fielder Justin Crawford beat out an infield single, scoring Bryson Stott with the winning run. In Game 2, Alec Bohm delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning after the game was tied 5-5. Chase Shugart earned the win in both games, becoming only the third Phillies pitcher in the Live Ball Era to accomplish the feat. Philadelphia, 11-19, has won three straight under interim manager Don Mattingly.

Braves Improve to NL-Best 21-9 With 8-6 Win at Coors Field

The Atlanta Braves extended their NL-best record to 21-9 with an 8-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Friday. Atlanta overcame the notorious run-friendly ballpark conditions, scoring early and holding off a Colorado rally. The Braves, who entered May as baseball’s first team to reach 20 wins, have now built a substantial cushion at the top of the NL East, leading second-place Miami by 7.5 games. Colorado’s Hunter Goodman and Tyler Freeman contributed offensively for the Rockies, but Atlanta’s superior depth proved too much. The Braves have baseball’s best ERA and have scored more runs than any other club in 2026.

Red Sox Win First Game Under Interim Manager Tracy, Beat Astros 3-1

The Boston Red Sox won their first game under new interim manager Chad Tracy, defeating the Houston Astros 3-1 at Fenway Park on Friday. The victory came six days after the Red Sox dismissed manager Alex Cora and five members of the coaching staff amid a 10-17 start — the first mid-season managerial change in Boston since 2001. Tracy, 40, had spent four years managing the Red Sox’s Triple-A affiliate in Worcester before inheriting the big-league job. Houston’s struggling rotation continued to be a concern, as the Astros dropped to 11-19. Boston’s pitching held the Astros quiet through seven innings.
