Rangers Shut Out Cubs 6-0, Snapping Chicago’s Second 10-Game Win Streak

The Texas Rangers ended the Chicago Cubs’ second 10-game winning streak of the season with a 6-0 shutout Saturday in Arlington. Cole Winn and Gavin Collyer combined on a four-hitter for Texas’s fourth shutout of the year. Jack Leiter threw 97 pitches over 4 2/3 scoreless innings before handing off to Jalen Beeks, who retired all four batters he faced. Chicago fell to 27-13 after winning 20 of its previous 23 games. Guardians Acquire Two-Time Gold Glove Catcher Patrick Bailey from Giants

The Cleveland Guardians acquired catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson and Cleveland’s competitive balance Round A draft pick. Bailey, 26, won the NL Gold Glove in each of his first two full major league seasons and ranks first among all players in Fielding Run Value since 2023. His bat has struggled in 2026, however, as he entered the deal hitting .146 with a 16 OPS-plus in 89 plate appearances. The Giants, mired at 15-24, called up catcher Logan Porter from Triple-A Sacramento. Cleveland pairs Bailey with Bo Naylor to form one of baseball’s deepest catching tandems.

INJURY

Brewers Place Brandon Lockridge on IL After Frightening Crash into Outfield Wall

The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Brandon Lockridge on the injured list Saturday after he crashed into the outfield wall at American Family Field during Friday’s win over the Yankees. Lockridge’s right knee struck concrete at the base of the wall while chasing a fly ball hit by Cody Bellinger in the fourth inning. He was carted off the field and needed nine stitches for a deep laceration near his knee that went down to the bone. X-rays came back negative for a fracture, which Lockridge called a relief after initially fearing his knee would be shattered. Manager Pat Murphy estimated a best-case return timeline of about one month.
