Elder Dazzles as Braves Take NL Showdown Series Over Dodgers
Bryce Elder struck out eight and held Los Angeles to one hit over 5.2 scoreless innings as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Dodgers 7-2 Sunday to claim a two-games-to-one series victory. Mauricio Dubón's two-out double down the left-field line put Atlanta ahead 4-0 after two innings — the identical margin at the same stage of Friday's game — and Drake Baldwin and Matt Olson each added home runs. Justin Wrobleski absorbed the loss, surrendering seven runs in 8.2 innings. Elder improved to 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA. Atlanta, now 28-13, is 11-1-1 in series this season, extending its NL East lead.

Turang Walk-Off HR Completes Brewers' First Yankees Sweep Since 1989
Brice Turang hit a walk-off homer off David Bednar with two outs in the ninth inning Sunday to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees, completing their first sweep of New York since August 1989. Carlos Rodón, making his 2026 season debut, walked five and allowed three runs in 4.1 innings as the Yankees' new southpaw struggled. Milwaukee, now 22-16, overcame a two-run deficit to erase New York's early lead. Turang's 411-foot drive cleared the center-field wall, capping a three-game series in which the Brewers won all three by a single run. New York falls to 26-15.

Guardians Acquire Two-Time Gold Glove Catcher Patrick Bailey from Giants
The Cleveland Guardians acquired two-time Gold Glove-winning catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson and the 29th overall pick in the 2026 draft. Bailey, 26, ranks first among all players in Fielding Run Value since 2023 and leads all catchers in framing runs and caught-stealing metrics. He is under team control through the 2029 season. San Francisco, sitting at 15-23 and last in the NL West, is rebuilding around catching prospects Jesús Rodríguez and Daniel Susac. The move gives Cleveland an elite defensive catcher as the Guardians hold first place in the AL Central at 21-20.

Cruz Joins Davis and Brock in Rare Power-Speed History as Giants Edge Pirates
Oneil Cruz homered and stole his 15th base Sunday as the Pittsburgh Pirates fell 7-6 to San Francisco in 12 innings at PNC Park. Cruz's combination of 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases in fewer than 40 games makes him just the third player since 1900 to reach those marks so early, joining Eric Davis in 1987 and Lou Brock in 1967. Jesús Rodríguez singled home the winning run in the 12th for the Giants, who trailed twice by two runs before rallying. Despite the loss, Cruz continues to establish himself as one of the game's most complete and explosive offensive forces this season.
Schwarber Blasts Two HRs as Phillies Blank Rockies for 10th Win Under Mattingly
Kyle Schwarber homered twice and Cristopher Sánchez extended his scoreless innings streak to 20.2 frames as the Philadelphia Phillies blanked the Colorado Rockies 6-0 Sunday. Schwarber's two blasts — his 15th and 16th of the season — tied New York's Aaron Judge for the major-league lead. Brandon Marsh went 4 for 4, raising his batting average to .353, tops in the majors. The Phillies have won 10 of 13 games under manager Don Mattingly, improving to 19-22 overall after a 9-19 record when Mattingly replaced Rob Thomson. Philadelphia has taken four consecutive series after dropping six in a row under Thomson.

Caminero Homers as Rays Push AL East Lead to 9.5 Games Over Red Sox
Nick Martinez pitched one-run ball into the sixth inning and Junior Caminero hit a solo home run over the Green Monster as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 4-1 Sunday, taking two of three games in a rain-shortened series at Fenway Park. Caminero's drive, a projected 404 feet to left-center, came off Red Sox starter Payton Tolle in the first inning. Tampa Bay improved to 26-13 and pushed Boston — falling to 17-23 — 9.5 games back in the AL East. A costly error by the Red Sox further compounded their offensive struggles, with Boston scoring just once across the final two games of the series.
Abbott and De La Cruz Lead Reds Past Astros to End Eight-Game Losing Streak
Andrew Abbott allowed three hits over six innings and Elly De La Cruz had three hits and scored twice as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Houston Astros 5-0 Sunday, taking two of three in the series. Spencer Steer homered and JJ Bleday delivered a two-run triple as the Reds bounced back from an eight-game losing streak that ended with a 10-0 drubbing on Friday. Cincinnati held Houston to just one combined run over the final two games of the series. Houston starter Kai-Wei Teng was chased in the fourth after yielding four straight hits. Antone, Moll, and Ashcraft combined to complete the three-hit shutout for the Reds.

Workman's Debut Pinch-Hit HR Propels Tigers Past Royals on Sunday Night Baseball
Gage Workman slugged a pinch-hit two-run home run — the first of his major-league career and his fourth career hit — as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-3 in Sunday Night Baseball on NBC. Workman, making his Tigers debut, delivered the big blow that helped Detroit avoid a sweep and snap a five-game road losing streak at Kauffman Stadium. The Tigers scored three runs in the second inning, then used Workman's blast later in the game to push ahead. Kansas City could not answer. Detroit improved to 19-21 while Kansas City fell to 17-22 in the AL Central standings.
