Aaron Judge Placed on IL With Rib Stress Fracture, Expected Out Four to Six Weeks
The New York Yankees placed slugger Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list Friday with a stress fracture in his right rib, retroactive to June 2. Judge will be reevaluated in four to six weeks to determine next steps. Manager Aaron Boone said Judge had been managing right-shoulder discomfort for the last couple of weeks but could not identify a specific play that triggered the injury. The club recalled outfielder Spencer Jones from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the right-field vacancy. The injury sidelines Judge as the Yankees sit 37-26, 1.5 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.

Padres Release Nick Castellanos After .191 Average in 39-Game Stint
The San Diego Padres released outfielder Nick Castellanos on Friday, two days after designating him for assignment. Castellanos batted .191 with a .560 OPS, four home runs and 20 RBI in 39 games after signing a league minimum contract worth approximately $780,000. The Phillies had released Castellanos in February despite still owing him $20 million on the final year of his $100 million, five-year contract. The DFA came one day after Castellanos received a video tribute from Philadelphia fans during his return to Citizens Bank Park — his first appearance there since the Phillies released him.
