Bogaerts Hit on Helmet, Padres Eject Two in Tense 9-3 Win Over Orioles
Xander Bogaerts was struck on the helmet by a 93.5 mph pitch in the fifth inning and later left the game as tensions between the San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles escalated into ejections Saturday. Bogaerts took the sinker from starter Trey Gibson off his helmet, initially stayed in the game and came around to score, but was removed for defense in the sixth inning. Stammen said afterward that Bogaerts began experiencing a neck spasm. Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson was also hit by a pitch later, prompting the ejections of Stammen and reliever Ron Marinaccio. Crow-Armstrong has logged an extra-base hit in four straight contests and in seven of eleven games in June, batting .383 — 18-for-47 — this month with five home runs and seven RBIs. His leadoff blast set an immediate tone for a dominant Cubs performance. San Francisco, now 28-41, has struggled near the bottom of the NL West all season. Chicago continues to press in a tight NL Central race.

Luis Garcia Jr. Breaks Tie as Nationals Top Mariners 8-3
Luis Garcia Jr. broke a fifth-inning tie with a two-run home run Saturday as the Washington Nationals defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-3. Garcia's blast gave Washington a lead it would not relinquish, and the Nationals tacked on additional runs off Seattle relievers to build a comfortable final margin. Athletics Rally for 7-5 Win Over Rockies, Fourth Straight Comeback Victory
Pinch-hitter Tyler Soderstrom delivered a go-ahead double in the sixth inning Saturday night and the Oakland Athletics beat the Colorado Rockies 7-5 at Las Vegas Ballpark for their fourth consecutive comeback victory. Zack Gelof hit a two-run home run and Alika Williams went 3-for-3 with a walk for Oakland, including a tying single in the sixth. Colorado led 5-4 before the Athletics scored three runs with two outs in that inning: Williams singled home Gelof to tie the game, Soderstrom doubled in Williams, and pinch-hitter Carlos Cortes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 7-5. Brett Sullivan homered and drove in two runs for Colorado.

Rangers Outfielder Evan Carter Hits IL With Right Oblique Strain
Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right oblique strain, the team announced. Carter left Friday's loss to the Boston Red Sox with soreness in the area before Texas made the move official. Despite the setback, Carter had been healthier than at any point in his professional career entering this week, appearing in 66 of the Rangers' first 69 games. The injury represents his fifth IL stint since he debuted in September 2023. Texas recalled infielder and outfielder Cody Freeman from Triple-A Round Rock to fill Carter's roster spot.
