Loperfido’s 11th-Inning Homer Lifts Astros Over Blue Jays, 9-7
Joey Loperfido hit a go-ahead home run in the 11th inning, and the Houston Astros held on to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-7 on Tuesday. The shot came off former teammate Braydon Fisher (3-3) after Toronto intentionally walked Yordan Alvarez with José Altuve at second as the automatic runner. Earlier, Yainer Díaz, Cam Smith and Taylor Trammell hit back-to-back-to-back home runs off Shane Bieber in the fourth inning — the first time the Astros have hit three consecutive home runs since Altuve, Alex Bregman and Alvarez did it against Texas on July 19, 2019. Logan VanWey (1-0) earned his first career win.

Sandy Alcantara Becomes Marlins’ All-Time Strikeout Leader in 6-4 Win
Sandy Alcantara became the Miami Marlins franchise strikeout leader Tuesday, setting the mark during a 6-4 win over the Texas Rangers at loanDepot park. Alcantara entered the start with 998 career Marlins strikeouts, needing four to surpass the record of 1,001 held by former starter Ricky Nolasco. He broke the mark in the seventh inning, striking out Kyle Higashioka on a slider for his second out of the frame. Alcantara also collected his fifth consecutive quality start in June, allowing one run over 6 ⅔ innings while scattering five hits, walking three and striking out four on the night.

Machado’s 10th-Inning Single Sends Padres to 7-6 Walk-Off Win Over Braves
Manny Machado drove a single to center field on the first pitch of the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday, scoring Jackson Merrill from second and giving the San Diego Padres a 7-6 walk-off victory over the Atlanta Braves — their sixth walk-off win of the season. Machado connected off Raisel Iglesias (0-2), with Merrill serving as the automatic runner. The Padres had trailed 4-0 after the second inning before mounting a five-run rally. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo home run in the seventh to tie the game, and Mason Miller (2-1) worked the final two innings to earn the win.

Dodgers Pound Season-High 17 Hits, Rout Twins 12-3 as Wrobleski Improves to 9-2
Freddie Freeman went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers tied their season high with 17 hits in a 12-3 rout of the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Justin Wrobleski (9-2) pitched seven strong innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and retiring 14 of the final 16 batters he faced after a three-hit third inning. Shohei Ohtani added a sacrifice fly during a three-run fourth inning that gave Los Angeles a 5-2 lead, and Mookie Betts, Alex Freeland, Alex Call and Chuckie Robinson each contributed two hits as the Dodgers improved to 46-27.

Sproat Fans Career-High 10, Brewers Shut Out Reds 2-0
Brandon Sproat pitched six shutout innings and struck out a career-high 10 batters Tuesday as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Cincinnati Reds 2-0. Sproat held Cincinnati to one hit over his six frames before yielding to three Brewers relievers. Aaron Ashby, Abner Uribe and Trevor Megill combined for three hitless innings to complete the shutout, with Megill nailing down his 10th save of the season. Hank Bauers and Andrew Vaughn each drove in a run for Milwaukee, which improved to 43-26 to maintain its hold on first place in the NL Central.

Rookie Ryan Johnson Takes No-Hitter Into Sixth, Angels Down Orioles 5-1
Rookie right-hander Ryan Johnson carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a single, pitching six shutout innings as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 Tuesday. In just his third career start, Johnson set career highs with six innings and eight strikeouts, walking one over 90 pitches. A second-round pick by the Angels in 2024, Johnson beat a Baltimore offense that had combined for 18 runs over its previous two games. Nolan Schanuel hit a two-run home run early, and Baltimore starter Shane Baz allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings as the Orioles’ three-game winning streak ended.

Robbie Ray Cruises Through Eight Innings as Giants Beat Athletics 3-1
Robbie Ray (6-6) allowed only an unearned run and two hits over eight dominant innings Tuesday as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Oakland Athletics 3-1. Ray struck out six and walked four while matching zeroes with Aaron Civale (5-4). Jung Hoo Lee hit a solo home run in the second inning, and Rafael Devers singled home a run in the seventh to give San Francisco a 3-1 advantage. Caleb Kilian earned his fifth save. Nick Schmitt went 2-for-4 for his seventh consecutive multi-hit game, the Giants’ longest such streak since Marco Scutaro put together a seven-game run in 2013.

Diamondbacks Blank Cardinals for Eight Innings, Then Score All Four Runs in the Ninth to Win 4-3
The Arizona Diamondbacks scored all four of their runs in a dramatic ninth-inning rally Tuesday to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. Arizona managed just three hits through the first eight innings before Gabriel Moreno singled and Pavin Smith walked to open the ninth. Nolan Arenado hit an RBI double, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. added a two-run single, and a passed ball by Cardinals catcher Jimmy Crooks drove home a fourth run. Arizona’s bullpen allowed three Cardinals runs in the bottom of the ninth but held on. Kevin Ginkel (3-2) earned the win and Brandyn Garcia collected his first save of the season.
