Cease Throws One-Hit Shutout as Blue Jays Blank Red Sox 6–0
Dylan Cease threw a complete-game one-hitter Saturday, retiring 24 of 25 batters as the Toronto Blue Jays blanked the Boston Red Sox 6–0 at Fenway Park. Cease took a no-hitter into the sixth before Andruw Monasterio’s double broke it up. His 120-pitch outing made him the first pitcher since Shane Bieber in 2021 to throw 118-plus pitches in two starts in a season. Salvador Perez became the Kansas City Royals’ all-time home run leader Saturday, blasting his 318th career homer as a Royal to break George Brett’s franchise record that had stood since 1986. Perez’s 401-foot solo shot off Kyle Finnegan in the seventh inning tied the game at 2–2 and was his 15th homer of the season. Nick Loftin then provided the decisive blow, a go-ahead solo home run in the ninth to lift Kansas City to a 3–2 win over the Detroit Tigers. The Miami Marlins’ 11-game losing streak tied franchise records set in 1998 and 2011 Saturday as the San Diego Padres won 7–2 to extend the collapse. Beavers Delivers Third Career Walk-Off as Orioles Edge Braves 3–2

Andre Pallante allowed just two hits and struck out eight over seven sharp innings as the St. Louis Cardinals shut out the Cincinnati Reds 7–0 on Saturday at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals broke the game open in the sixth inning, when Iván Herrera’s two-run double, Bryan Torres’ RBI single, Blaze Jordan’s two-run single and Nathan Church’s sacrifice bunt plated six runs. Jordan, acquired from the Red Sox earlier this season, drove in two of those runs. Gordon Graceffo completed the shutout, and St. Louis improved to 23–17 in the NL Central. Hunter Greene started and took the loss for Cincinnati.

Bellinger Exits With Hamstring Concern in Yankees’ 3–1 Win Over Phillies
Cody Bellinger exited with an apparent hamstring injury in the eighth inning Saturday, creating concern in the New York Yankees’ clubhouse as they edged the Philadelphia Phillies 3–1. Nick Martinez shut down the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, allowing four hits and no walks over six innings as the Tampa Bay Rays blanked Cleveland 3–0 at Tropicana Field. Martinez improves to 10–2 with a 2.45 ERA — second-best in the American League — and has led Tampa Bay to wins in 16 of his 20 starts. The Rays drew scoring from Junior Caminero’s RBI double, Cedric Mullins’ sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt by Hunter Feduccia. Yandy Díaz became the fourth player in franchise history to reach 1,000 hits with Tampa Bay. Bryan Baker earned his 27th save as the AL-best Rays extended their lead.
