Passan: Tigers Are Going to Trade Skubal Ahead of August 3 Deadline
ESPN's Jeff Passan reported late Wednesday that the Detroit Tigers are going to trade ace Tarik Skubal ahead of the August 3 trade deadline. Passan told SportsCenter that Detroit plans to begin engaging interested teams within a day or two. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are considered frontrunners, possessing the prospect volume and major-league talent to complete a blockbuster deal. Skubal, a two-time defending AL Cy Young Award winner, started Wednesday against Baltimore, striking out six and allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings. The crowd of 34,406 gave him multiple standing ovations throughout what could be his final game at Comerica Park.

Marlins Rally from 6-0 Deficit to Beat Phillies 8-6
Griffin Conine hit a go-ahead pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning to cap the Marlins' largest comeback of the season, as Miami rallied from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-6 on Wednesday. Hernandez launched a two-run homer off Jesus Luzardo to pull Miami within three, while Lopez and Edwards added RBI singles to tie the game at 6-6. Herrera's Walk-Off Double Lifts Cardinals Past Cubs 3-2 in 10 Innings
Ivan Herrera lined a walk-off double to left-center field in the 10th inning to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing streak. Chris Sale struck out nine batters and allowed only two hits in six shutout innings to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 1-0 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday, dropping Sale's ERA to 2.08. The left-hander (12-6) did not walk a batter, and Matt Olson drove in the only run of the game with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Athletics All-Star catcher Shea Langeliers underwent surgery Tuesday for a torn meniscus in his right knee, ending his 2026 season.
