Browns Trade Myles Garrett to Rams in Blockbuster Deal
The Cleveland Browns traded two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams on June 1, receiving pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. Garrett, 29, set a league record with 23 sacks in 2025. Verse, 25, has accumulated 12 sacks and 22 tackles for loss across two seasons and earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. The deal was structured after June 1 to split the dead cap hit across two seasons. The Rams now boast one of the most formidable pass-rush tandems in football.

Eagles Trade A.J. Brown to Patriots for First-Round Pick
The Philadelphia Eagles traded wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on June 1 in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection. Brown, 28, skipped voluntary OTA sessions this spring amid contract tensions with Philadelphia. He immediately becomes the Patriots’ No. 1 receiver alongside free agent addition Romeo Doubs, reuniting with head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him in Tennessee from 2019 to 2021. Brown gives quarterback Drake Maye a genuine top target as New England builds on its Super Bowl LX runner-up season. Both teams waited until after June 1 for salary cap reasons.

Giants Sign Beckham, Smith-Schuster, and Berrios in WR Overhaul
The New York Giants signed wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and JuJu Smith-Schuster, along with return specialist Braxton Berrios, on one-year deals June 1 following team workouts. Beckham, who did not play in 2025, returns to the franchise where he began his career. Smith-Schuster joins from Kansas City, while Berrios — released by Houston — replaces Gunner Olszewski, who suffered a season-ending Achilles tear earlier in the week. The three signings represent a near-complete receiver room overhaul as the Giants attempt to rebuild their roster around second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart heading into training camp.

Russell Wilson Finalizes CBS Sports Deal, Ending NFL Career
Russell Wilson is finalizing an agreement to join CBS Sports as a pregame analyst, ending his 14-year NFL career, ESPN reported June 1. Wilson, 37, accepted an offer to appear on the network’s Sunday show alongside James Brown, Nate Burleson, and Bill Cowher, turning down a chance to serve as a backup quarterback in 2026. The 10-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion spent 2025 with the Giants, throwing for 831 yards and three touchdowns in six appearances before being surpassed on the depth chart by Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston. Wilson leaves as one of the most decorated quarterbacks of his generation.
Mahomes Returns to Practice Field at Chiefs’ Opening OTA
Patrick Mahomes returned to the practice field Monday at Kansas City’s first organized team activity of the 2026 offseason, marking his most significant public step in recovering from the torn ACL and LCL he suffered in Week 15 of 2025. Mahomes wore a black protective brace on his left knee and participated in drills, with the Chiefs posting video of the quarterback throwing. The session was closed to reporters, so the extent of his participation was not specified. Team medical staff has cited a nine-month recovery window, placing a potential Week 1 return in September at the edge of the timeline. Backup Justin Fields is available if needed.
100 Days Out: Key Questions Ahead of the 2026 NFL Season

Packers to ‘Let Process Play Out’ After Jacobs Arrest
The Green Bay Packers said June 1 they will let the legal process play out after running back Josh Jacobs was arrested May 26 on domestic violence charges in Wisconsin. Jacobs, 28, faces five counts including battery, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, strangulation and suffocation — a felony — and intimidation of a victim. The Brown County District Attorney’s office said it was not prepared to make formal charging decisions, citing the need for additional investigation before deciding whether to charge. Jacobs’ attorneys denied all allegations. The Packers are currently in week two of voluntary OTA practices.

Post-June 1 Transactions: Cowboys, Bills, Seahawks Among Teams Active
Teams completed a wave of transactions around the June 1 roster deadline Monday. Dallas signed undrafted wide receiver Romello Brinson — a nephew of former Bengals receiver Chad Johnson — as OTAs opened in Frisco. Buffalo signed return specialist Mac Dalena and waived cornerback Daryl Porter Jr. Seattle added edge rusher Jadeveon Fowler on a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. Houston kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn signed a two-year, $13 million extension, making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.
