Texans Co-Founder Janice McNair Dies at 89
Janice McNair, co-founder and senior chair of the Houston Texans, died Tuesday at age 89, the team announced. McNair co-founded the NFL’s 32nd franchise in 2002 alongside her husband, Bob McNair, who died in 2018. She subsequently became the franchise’s principal owner before transferring control to her son Cal McNair in March 2024. The Texans said she passed away peacefully surrounded by family and did not disclose a cause of death, though McNair had previously been treated for breast cancer. She is survived by four children, including Cal McNair, chair and CEO of the franchise, as well as 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
NFL Sets Aug. 26 Vote on Seahawks’ $9.6 Billion Sale to Khosla Family
The NFL notified all 32 teams Tuesday of a special one-day owners meeting scheduled for Aug. 26 in Atlanta, where the league is expected to vote on the Seattle Seahawks’ pending sale to the Khosla family, per ESPN. The estate of late owner Paul Allen agreed to sell the franchise for a record $9.612 billion. Neeru Khosla will serve as controlling owner. The sale must receive approval from the league’s finance committee before the full ownership vote. Vinod Khosla, a Sun Microsystems co-founder and current 49ers limited partner, must divest that stake as a condition of the deal.
Cowboys DE Charles Snowden Suspended Three Games for 2024 DUI
The NFL suspended Dallas Cowboys defensive end Charles Snowden for the first three games of the 2026 regular season, the league announced Tuesday. The discipline stems from Snowden’s DUI arrest in December 2024 while he was playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, which violated the league’s personal conduct policy. Snowden initially pleaded not guilty but entered a no-contest plea in January 2025.
