Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Steps Away From Camp After Wife Shot at Virginia Home
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy stepped away from training camp Monday after his wife, Mia Bieniemy, 57, was shot at the couple's Ashburn, Virginia, home Sunday night. Police arrested the couple's son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, on three felony charges: malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling. Mia Bieniemy was hospitalized and is in stable condition. Head coach Andy Reid said the team's thoughts are with the Bieniemy family. Pass game coordinator Joe Bleymaier and offensive line coach Andy Heck are handling Bieniemy's duties as the Chiefs continue camp in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Two-Time Pro Bowl DT Vita Vea Requests Trade From Buccaneers After Contract Talks Stall
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea formally requested a trade Monday after contract extension talks stalled, his agent Collin Roberts told ESPN. Vea, 31, is entering the final year of a four-year, $71 million contract and is set to earn $17 million in 2026, though none of it is guaranteed. The two-time Pro Bowler conducted a hold-in during mandatory minicamp in June before ultimately reporting. Vea recorded 34 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 13 quarterback hits in 17 games last season. His preferred destinations include a California team or the Las Vegas Raiders. Vea is expected in camp but his participation status remains undetermined.

NFLPA Investigating Panthers After Edge Rusher Nic Scourton Tears ACL on First Day of Training Camp
The NFL Players Association is investigating the Carolina Panthers after linebacker Nic Scourton suffered a season-ending ACL tear on the first day of full training camp practice. Scourton, 21, was a second-round pick in 2025 and posted five sacks in his rookie season. The injury occurred during the mandatory five-day acclimation period, during which the CBA prohibits live contact and restricts on-field activity to running and conditioning only. The NFLPA will review practice video to determine whether the Panthers violated the collective bargaining agreement. A Panthers spokesperson confirmed the team is cooperating fully with the investigation.

Packers Edge Rusher Micah Parsons Expected to Start 2026 Season on PUP List, Eyes Mid-October Return
Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons was expected to be placed on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday after not opening training camp on Monday's list for procedural and timing reasons. Parsons is recovering from a torn ACL suffered last December and a subsequent arthroscopic procedure on his meniscus. Starting the season on the PUP list means Parsons will miss at least the first four regular-season games. He does not expect to return until mid-October, with his debut potentially coinciding with a Week 6 matchup against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. Five other Packers players also opened camp on the PUP list.

Washington Commanders Fire Tight Ends Coach Ben Steele Two Days Before Camp Opens Following DWI Arrest
The Washington Commanders dismissed tight ends coach Ben Steele on Monday, two days before their training camp was set to begin, following a DWI arrest in Loudoun County, Virginia. Steele, who joined Washington's staff in March, was charged on June 7 with driving while intoxicated, obstruction and resisting without force, and refusal of a breath or blood test. The firing came more than a month after his arrest. Steele had been working with veteran tight end Zach Ertz and second-year player Ben Sinnott, who is expected to be Washington's featured tight end this season. The Commanders will begin camp without a permanent replacement named.

The Seattle Seahawks opened 2026 training camp in Renton, Washington, as defending Super Bowl LX champions, with 86.9 percent of their offensive and defensive snaps from last season's title team returning. Key offseason losses include Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III, who signed with Kansas City; safety Coby Bryant to the Chicago Bears; linebacker Boye Mafe to the Bengals; and cornerback Riq Woolen to the Eagles. Safety Nick Emmanwori opened camp on the PUP list following ankle surgery but is expected to play in the September 9 opener against New England.
