Trump Signs Narrower AI Executive Order After Industry Pushback on 90-Day Review Window

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday requiring AI companies to voluntarily submit powerful new models to the government for testing 30 days before public release. An earlier draft called for a 90-day window, but industry insiders pushed back, and former White House AI adviser David Sacks voiced concerns. Trump said he did not want to slow AI firms competing against China. The order explicitly bars the government from creating a mandatory licensing requirement for AI releases. The Department of Justice is directed to treat AI-assisted hacking as a high-priority enforcement area.

Anthropic, the AI lab behind Claude, filed confidentially for an initial public offering on Monday, submitting a draft registration statement to the SEC. The company, currently valued at $965 billion, has not set a share price or disclosed the number of shares to be offered. The filing comes less than a week after Anthropic closed a $65 billion Series H round co-led by Altimeter Capital, Sequoia, and Coatue. Hackers Brute-Force Dashlane Two-Factor Auth, Steal Encrypted Vaults From 20 Customers

Password manager Dashlane disclosed Monday that hackers stole encrypted vaults from approximately 20 customers during a weekend cyberattack. Attackers brute-forced the company’s two-factor authentication by using automated software to rapidly submit numeric code combinations, then downloaded the targeted vaults. Dashlane said its own systems showed no evidence of compromise but has not disclosed how attackers bypassed the two-factor protections at scale. The stolen vaults are encrypted and require a customer’s master password to open; however, Dashlane warned customers with weak master passwords face a higher risk. The incident echoes a 2022 LastPass breach in which stolen vaults later had master passwords cracked.

DuckDuckGo Launches Chrome and Firefox Extensions for AI-Free Search as Traffic Surges 84%

DuckDuckGo launched new Chrome and Firefox extensions on Sunday that let users set its AI-free search page, noai.duckduckgo.com, as their default. The extensions return results with no AI-generated answers, no chat prompts, and fewer AI images. The company said visits to the no-AI page tripled on May 28, after Google announced it would lead search results with AI-generated overviews, pushing traditional links below the fold. Traffic to the no-AI page is now averaging 84 percent above baseline, and U.S. app installs rose 18.1 percent week-over-week. DuckDuckGo says iOS installs peaked at 69.9 percent week-over-week growth in that same period.

Sensory Robotics Earns UL Certification for SR-1 System That Lets Industrial Robots Work Cage-Free

Sensory Robotics announced Monday that its SR-1 safety system has received UL certification under cULus 1740, enabling industrial robots to operate alongside humans without physical safety cages. The SR-1 uses 3D vision and sensors to create real-time safety zones around robotic arms, adjusting robot movements as people enter the workspace. The certification, validated to Performance Level d Category 3 with a PFHd of 1.73e-7, took 20 months to achieve. Traditional robot safety shutdowns can take up to 10 minutes per incident, Sensory Robotics says, causing significant production downtime. Toyota, the Department of Defense, Procter and Gamble, and Caterpillar have contacted the company to install SR-1 systems.
