Apple cuts hundreds of jobs from Siri and Vision Pro teams2 sources
Apple is cutting over 200 positions across its Siri, Vision Pro, and Intelligent Systems Experience teams, Bloomberg reported. The layoffs impact roughly 100 employees from the Vision Pro division and another 100 from Siri and the AI integration group. Apple confirmed the reductions to Bloomberg, stating the company is reshuffling to focus on newer AI efforts and new devices. The company added that while existing roles are affected, it will create new positions as part of the change.
Waymo hands over documents in NHTSA’s child collision probe2 sources
Waymo submitted a redacted batch of documents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding its probe into a January collision involving a robotaxi and a child. The responses to NHTSA’s questions so far are redacted entirely, citing “confidential business information.” NHTSA stated it will publish further materials in the investigation file once processing is complete.

The Idaho National Laboratory is investigating Chinese lidar sensors for potential security vulnerabilities, according to two people familiar with the effort. The Department of Energy lab is conducting the review, which is funded by a company or group within the electric and autonomous vehicle industries. It remains unclear which specific firms are supporting the research. These companies are reported to be considering Chinese lidar technology for their vehicles. The investigation highlights growing concerns about the security implications of integrating foreign-made components into critical transportation infrastructure.
