Boston Scientific disclosed a cyberattack that has disrupted the medical device maker’s global IT systems, order processing and shipping operations. The Massachusetts-based manufacturer — known for its pacemakers and defibrillators — first identified the intrusion on August 25 and filed an SEC 8-K disclosure the following day. The ShinyHunters hacking group is suspected in the attack, according to cybersecurity researchers. Boston Scientific said it is working to contain and remediate the incident. No Surprises Act Dispute Resolution Generated $22.4B in Extra Costs, Georgetown Study Finds
The independent dispute resolution process created by the No Surprises Act has generated $22.4 billion in additional healthcare costs over four years, according to Georgetown University research published Wednesday. The total includes $15.6 billion in arbitration awards above in-network rates, $4.2 billion in administrative costs absorbed by payers and providers, and $2.7 billion in IDR filing fees. The financial burden accelerated sharply in 2025, when IDR costs reached $16.6 billion — more than three times the prior year total — as the number of disputes climbed 77 percent. The data shows costs far exceeding original government projections for the program.

Cyberattack Shuts Down IT at 8 Texas Cancer Clinics, 36,503 Patients Notified
Austin Cancer Centers notified 36,503 patients of a cyberattack that shut down IT systems at all eight of its Texas locations, according to a news release issued Thursday. The cancer care network said it discovered the breach on August 4 after hackers deployed malware, but investigators determined unauthorized actors had been inside its systems since July 21. Austin Cancer Centers took its IT networks offline in response and has been working to restore operations. Affected patients are being offered identity theft and credit monitoring coverage up to $1 million. No specific ransomware group has been publicly identified in connection with the incident.
