Cyberattack Disrupts Boston Scientific Global IT Operations

Boston Scientific disclosed a cyberattack that has disrupted the medical device maker’s global IT systems, order processing and shipping operations. The Massachusetts-based manufacturer — known for its pacemakers and defibrillators — first identified the intrusion on August 25 and filed an SEC 8-K disclosure the following day. The company’s stock fell approximately 6 percent following the disclosure as analysts assessed the potential operational and financial impact of the ongoing disruption.

Employers Project 9.2% Health Cost Surge for 2027, BGH Survey Finds

Large U.S. employers are projecting a median 9.2 percent increase in health benefit costs for 2027 as rising hospital prices, more expensive prescription drugs and a sicker workforce compound financial pressure, according to an annual survey released Thursday by the Business Group on Health. The survey covered 127 large employers representing approximately 8.7 million Americans. BGH described the trend as an “existential reckoning” for employer-sponsored health coverage. Hospital price increases were identified as the primary driver, followed by pharmaceutical costs. Employers reported that workforce health is deteriorating, with workers becoming sicker and driving up overall health spending across all categories of benefits.

The financial burden accelerated sharply in 2025, when IDR costs reached $16.6 billion — more than three times the prior year total — as the number of disputes climbed 77 percent. The data shows costs far exceeding original government projections for the program.

Suki Launches AI Dictation Tool With Epic and Meditech EHR Integration

Suki has launched a new AI-powered dictation tool that transcribes physician speech verbatim — a capability distinct from the ambient AI documentation systems that have dominated recent healthcare technology investment. The tool integrates with Epic and Meditech electronic health record platforms, enabling physicians to document within their existing workflows. Suki is also positioning the technology as a platform capability, allowing other health technology companies to embed its dictation engine into their own products. The launch extends Suki’s presence beyond its existing ambient AI assistant while targeting healthcare organizations that prefer traditional dictation-based documentation over ambient voice capture approaches.
