Transport Canada Issues Emergency AD for PW210 Turboshaft Turbine Exhaust Frame Cracks
Transport Canada issued an emergency airworthiness directive on June 4 requiring operators of Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210 turboshafts to inspect for turbine exhaust frame cracks. The order covers PW210A-powered Leonardo AW169 and PW210S-powered Sikorsky S-76 helicopters. Operators reported circumferential cracks at the turbine exhaust frame external surface; investigation traced the defect to a TEF wall below minimum required thickness, caused by thermal stress from engine starts. Unchecked TEF failure can result in engine failure and release of parts. Engines with more than 7,000 cycles since new must complete inspections within 5 flight hours or 20 starts. P&WC issued a service bulletin in May calling for repetitive general visual inspections.

Lufthansa 787-9 Nose-Gear Collapses at Frankfurt Main While Preparing for Los Angeles Service
One of Lufthansa’s newest Boeing 787-9 aircraft suffered a nose-gear collapse while parked at Frankfurt Main airport on June 4. The twinjet (D-ABPQ), delivered in January 2026, had arrived from Austin and was preparing to operate flight LH450 to Los Angeles when the incident occurred; the flight was subsequently cancelled. Video images circulating on social media show the nose-wheel appearing to retract while the jet was stationary at the gate, with nose-gear doors separating as the nose struck the ground. A cargo loader was parked at the open forward cargo door at the time and at least two airbridges were attached. Investigation into the incident has only just started.
