Unbeaten Elks Reach 3-0 With Late-Game Heroics Over Blue Bombers
The Edmonton Elks improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2017, defeating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-18 at a sold-out Princess Auto Stadium on Thursday. Quarterback Cody Fajardo capped a nine-play, 57-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, connecting with TJ Luther on an eight-yard touchdown pass to seal the victory before 32,343 fans. Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros was unable to engineer a late reply, and Edmonton held on as the Blue Bombers dropped to 1-2-0. The win moves the Elks alone atop the West Division and extends the best start to a CFL season for the franchise in nearly a decade.

CFL Bars QB Brendan Sorsby From League Following Gambling Allegations
The Canadian Football League has confirmed it will not register a contract for quarterback Brendan Sorsby, and no CFL team is permitted to add him to its negotiation list. The league stated that upholding the integrity of competition is paramount, citing serious and concerning allegations against the 22-year-old signal-caller. Sorsby, who had sought treatment for a gambling addiction in April, reportedly placed at least 40 bets on Indiana Hoosiers football games during his 2022 redshirt season, and thousands more wagers on various professional and college sporting events in the years since. The NFL also declined to hold a 2026 supplemental draft, leaving Sorsby without a pro football path.
