Roughriders Captain Jayden Dalke Killed in Car Crash Saturday Night
Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker and team captain Jayden Dalke was killed in a car crash Saturday night. The club announced Sunday that the 30-year-old Leduc, Alberta native died on Highway 11 between Regina and Lumsden at approximately 9:00 p.m. A sixth-round pick in 2022 out of the University of Alberta, Dalke appeared in 68 regular-season games with 69 tackles, 31 special-teams tackles, three forced fumbles, an interception and a sack. CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston called him a passionate competitor who played with incredible heart, noting the league had lost a Canadian brother and a friend. Saskatchewan cancelled Sunday practice, and a moment of silence was held before Sunday night's Bombers-Redblacks game.

Lions Add Veteran NFL Backup Woodside to Negotiation List After Rourke Shoulder Injury
The BC Lions have added veteran quarterback Logan Woodside to their exclusive negotiation list, the team announced Sunday, one day after franchise QB Nathan Rourke exited a 19-17 loss to the Edmonton Elks with a left shoulder injury. Woodside, 31, is currently a free agent who spent the 2025 season on the practice rosters of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. With Rourke's injury status unclear, BC currently has only backup Chase Brice and rookie third-stringer Kaidon Salter under contract. CFL rules require teams to dress three quarterbacks. The Lions, who dropped to 1-5 on the season, need to add quarterback depth before their next game.
