Brendan Sorsby granted 2026 eligibility: Texas Tech QB wins injunction vs. NCAA amid gambling probe
Lubbock judge Ken Curry granted Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby a temporary injunction against the NCAA, clearing him to play in 2026. The court ruled Sorsby would suffer “probable, imminent and irreparable injury” if barred from competing, including losing access to the June 22 NFL Supplemental Draft. He must sit out the season’s first two games against Abilene Christian and Oregon State before returning for the Big 12 opener at Houston on Sept. 18. The NCAA condemned the ruling as “damaging, far-reaching and broadly destabilizing.” Sorsby admitted to placing thousands of bets over four years, including at least 40 on Indiana games while he was a member of that program.

Brendan Sorsby fallout: Georgia, Nebraska boycott future games vs. Texas Tech as Big 12, Big Ten mull action
Athletic directors at Georgia and Nebraska moved Tuesday to instruct coaches not to schedule Texas Tech following Brendan Sorsby’s eligibility ruling. Nebraska AD Troy Dannen told CBS Sports: “We are not scheduling Texas Tech moving forward.” Georgia AD Josh Brooks condemned the decision, writing that “true integrity means holding your program accountable when things go wrong, not buying custom legislation or running to a local courtroom to bypass the rules.” The Big Ten is expected to discuss a league-wide scheduling mandate against the Red Raiders. Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark called the ruling’s ramifications “significant” and said conference ADs were scheduled to discuss the matter Tuesday.

College football recruiting: Biggest commitments from the weekend
June is college football’s biggest recruiting month, and this past weekend delivered a round of marquee commitments. The top pledge: K.J. Green, an EDGE prospect ranked No. 48 nationally by Rivals, committed to LSU. As a junior at Stephenson High, Green tallied 129 tackles, 40 for a loss, and 18 sacks over 13 games. He chose the Tigers over South Carolina, Oregon, Georgia and Alabama. Quarterback Colton Nussmeier — No. 197 nationally and younger brother of former LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier — committed to Georgia, taking the top uncommitted passer in the country off the board. No. 73 ATH Gideon Gash committed to Texas Tech.
