Eight people were arrested during coordinated raids on April 4, among them nurses, a chiropractor, and a psychologist. The scheme recruited healthy patients — some lured at local markets with cash payments of $300 per month — and billed Medicare for unnecessary hospice care. Anaheim nurse Lolita Minerd’s company alone submitted over $9.1 million in fraudulent claims. California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the operation as part of a broader state crackdown on hospice fraud that has already resulted in more than 280 license revocations.
