Boston Scientific’s ordering, shipping disrupted in cyberattack
Boston Scientific disclosed a cyberattack on Wednesday via a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing, saying the attack had disrupted the company’s ability to process and ship customer orders globally. The medical device maker said it identified the attack on Tuesday and activated its response protocols with third-party cybersecurity experts. The timeline for full restoration is not yet known. Shares dropped nearly 6% in premarket trading before recovering slightly to trade down more than 4% after the market opened. Boston Scientific said it has not yet determined whether the incident will have a material impact on its operations or finances.

ECRI expands reporting network to include AI errors in patient care
Global patient safety nonprofit ECRI announced Tuesday an expansion of its problem-reporting network to include patient care issues involving AI tools. The organization is calling on healthcare providers nationwide to submit reports of incidents involving AI-related errors, incorrect outputs, or unsafe AI behavior in clinical or operational settings. In an ECRI survey of 124 healthcare leaders, nearly one-third reported encountering an AI output they believed was incorrect or misleading in the past year, and 9% said an AI error reached a patient or impacted care decisions. ECRI called the initiative essential to improving the design and integration of AI tools across healthcare.

VA deploys Federal Electronic Health Record System to three Indiana hospitals
The Department of Veterans Affairs on Monday deployed the Federal Electronic Health Record System at three hospitals in Indiana, including Northern Indiana Health Care System’s hospitals and the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, along with 16 associated clinics throughout the state. The Indiana deployment is among 11 hospital deployments completed under the VA’s accelerated 2026 schedule, which the department says reaches more than 617,000 veterans and 35,000 clinicians. VA Deputy Secretary Paul Lawrence, Ph.D., said 2026 deployments are double those of the past five years. The administration has set a goal to complete the system’s deployment across all VA facilities by 2031.

Most Americans want providers to disclose AI use, report says
Nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults say it is extremely or very important that doctors and other providers disclose when artificial intelligence is used in their healthcare, according to a new Pew Research Center survey of 3,488 adults conducted in late June. The survey also found that 53% feel they have little or no say over whether their provider uses AI, and 46% are unsure whether AI has already been used in their care. Demand for disclosure extended to lower-stakes applications: 72% want to know when AI takes appointment notes, 64% when it orders prescription refills, and 56% when it schedules appointments.

Physicians want compensation boost from AI productivity gains
More than 40% of physicians say they should capture most of the cost savings if artificial intelligence helps them work faster, according to a new Doximity survey drawing on more than 250,000 physician compensation responses collected over seven years. More than 65% of respondents now use AI on a daily or weekly basis for clinical or administrative work. A fifth face higher productivity expectations because of AI, and 42% expect those pressures to grow. Nearly a fourth of physicians expect AI to boost their compensation within the next year, and 39% say AI proficiency is now a factor in hiring decisions within their specialty.

Datavant launches Provider Exchange for digital medical record retrieval
Data collaboration platform Datavant on Thursday launched Provider Exchange, a digital-first medical record retrieval platform built on the company’s network of more than 80,000 provider sites. The platform allows healthcare organizations to securely request, track, and receive medical records digitally, with real-time visibility into retrieval workflows. Datavant says Provider Exchange is designed to help organizations move beyond fragmented manual processes toward a more scalable, digital-first retrieval experience. Andrea Kowalski, Datavant senior vice president of provider products, said the platform addresses provider-driven workflows such as continuity of care and specialty referrals, where delays in record retrieval can stand between patients and the care they need.

Suki launches AI dictation tool with EHR integration capabilities
AI documentation startup Suki on Tuesday launched a verbatim dictation tool that transcribes speech into text word-for-word, designed to complement the company’s existing ambient clinical documentation product. Unlike Suki’s ambient scribe, which generates summarized notes from patient-provider conversations, the new tool captures spoken word exactly as stated, a feature intended for use when documenting complex surgical procedures or medical codes where precision is critical. The tool integrates with Epic and Meditech electronic health records systems and can also be embedded directly into third-party products. It uses automatic speech recognition technology that learns a user’s vocabulary over time and removes filler words.

Novant Health first in U.S. to implement Q-rounds real-time rounding technology
Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health announced Monday that it became the first health system in the country to implement real-time rounds technology, dubbed Q-rounds, across both pediatric and adult inpatient care, including intensive care units. The technology was first deployed in the neonatal intensive care unit. Families of patients who opt in receive real-time care updates and can join rounds remotely, ask questions, and participate in treatment plan discussions. Since its launch across four care settings, nearly 350 family members have opted in. Novant Health said the technology will expand to additional facilities over the next several months.
