Zillow eliminated more than 500 positions — roughly 7% of its workforce — with CEO Jeremy Wacksman citing a “disciplined cost structure” even as Q2 revenue climbed 18% year-over-year to $708 million. TikTok shuttered its Nashville content moderation office, eliminating 250 roles. Etsy cut approximately 220 product and engineering staff, and Google filed WARN notices for 52 employees across Washington state.

Salesforce Cuts 133 Jobs Across San Francisco and Seattle as August Tech Layoff Wave Expands
The August tech layoff wave extended beyond headline cuts, with Salesforce eliminating 133 positions across San Francisco and Seattle over consecutive days, per the TrueUp tech layoffs tracker. The San Francisco cuts affected 74 workers at Salesforce headquarters and coincided with a C-suite shuffle, while 59 Seattle-area positions were also eliminated. Ad-measurement firm VideoAmp separately cut 60 employees this week, with the workforce reduction attributed to AI agents taking on roles previously held by staff.
