IT Job Postings Hit Three-Year High Even as Tech Employment Slips
Active job postings for IT roles climbed to a three-year high in September as employers across the economy added more than 272,000 open roles, according to a CompTIA analysis published Friday and reported by CIO Dive. Employment told a different story: IT roles in the technology sector fell by more than 10,000 positions from August, and tech hiring across all sectors contracted by around 6,000 roles, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics data. IT unemployment rose to 3.3% from 3.1% in August, below the national rate of 4.2%. Seth Robinson, CompTIA’s VP of research, told CIO Dive the gap between demand and supply is “maybe growing a little bit.”
Former LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky to Leave Microsoft at Year-End
Ryan Roslansky, the Microsoft executive vice president who previously served as LinkedIn’s chief executive, will leave the company at the end of 2026, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Thursday in a memo to employees. Roslansky, who joined LinkedIn in 2009 and became its CEO in 2020, will remain through December as an advisor to Nadella. He cited his family’s ties to the San Francisco Bay Area, writing that leading the next phase of the work would mean “being in Redmond full time, every day.” During his six years leading LinkedIn, membership grew from 700 million to 1.3 billion. Quartz reported the move comes amid a wave of executive departures.
OpenAI Safety Employee David Robinson Resigns, Says Company’s Culture Is Broken
David Robinson, who said he led the writing of safety reports that accompanied OpenAI’s major product launches, has resigned, saying the company’s “culture is broken,” TechCrunch reported Saturday. In an essay published in The Atlantic, Robinson said that with three-and-a-half years at OpenAI he is among its longest-tenured employees. He argued frontier AI companies should operate like nuclear-power plants or busy airports, with layers of redundancy and careful planning. He wrote that stronger incentives for safety coming from outside the company are a big part of getting this right. OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri said the company continues to improve its safety measures. Business Insider first reported the departure.

Anchorage Digital Reportedly Cuts 17% of Staff Amid Crypto Slump
Anchorage Digital, the first federally chartered U.S. digital asset bank, has reportedly laid off 17% of its staff, BeInCrypto reported via Yahoo Finance, citing The Information. Chief executive Nathan McCauley told employees about the cuts this week, according to the report, which tied the layoffs to a year-long crypto market slump. Anchorage has not publicly commented on the reduction. McCauley put the global workforce at about 400 people in congressional testimony in February 2025; if staffing held near that level, the cut would affect roughly 68 jobs. The company laid off 20% of its workforce in 2023. Gemini, Crypto.com, Coinbase and Bitwise also cut staff in 2026.
