Nashville Predators Hire Vukie Mpofu as Assistant General Manager
The Nashville Predators announced on Tuesday that Vukie Mpofu has been hired as Assistant General Manager. Mpofu, 30, joins from the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he served as Director of Hockey Operations for three years. From 2020 to 2023 he worked as a team consultant and Manager of Hockey Operations in Pittsburgh. GM Chris MacFarland announced that Mpofu will assist across all areas of hockey operations, including player acquisition strategy, professional and amateur scouting, contract negotiations, salary cap management, and roster decisions. This is the first assistant general manager role for Mpofu.
Maple Leafs Remake Roster: McKenna Goes First Overall, Chayka Era Begins
The Toronto Maple Leafs opened the 2026-27 era under new GM John Chayka and executive Mats Sundin with a sweeping roster overhaul. Toronto won the 2026 NHL draft lottery and used the first overall pick to select Penn State winger Gavin McKenna.
