Utah Mammoth Match Devils’ Offer Sheet, Retain Barrett Hayton
The Utah Mammoth announced Wednesday they will match the New Jersey Devils’ one-year, $4.775 million offer sheet for center Barrett Hayton, retaining the restricted free agent for 2026–27. New Jersey tendered the offer sheet in an attempt to lure Hayton away from Utah, but the Mammoth chose to keep him. By matching, Utah forfeits the right to trade Hayton for a full calendar year from the date of the match — a standard RFA rule that clubs accept knowingly. Hayton, 25, is a roster piece Utah clearly values as the franchise continues building under its Mammoth identity.
