Jack Campbell Retires From Professional Hockey
Jack Campbell, 34, announced his retirement from professional hockey Monday via Instagram. The goaltender, selected 11th overall by Dallas in 2010, had his best years with the Toronto Maple Leafs, earning an All-Star nod in 2022 with a .914 save percentage and 31 wins. His fortunes changed dramatically after signing a five-year, $25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers — the deal produced -21.83 GSAx over two seasons before a buyout followed. Campbell last played 14 AHL games with Grand Rapids in 2024–25. He now enters a new chapter as a life coach with Novus Global.

Peter DeBoer Ready to Reset the New York Islanders
New York Islanders head coach Peter DeBoer used his first full offseason media availability Monday to outline a reset for the organization. Arriving late last season after GM Mathieu Darche dismissed Patrick Roy with four games remaining, DeBoer brings a 663-450-152 career record to his sixth NHL head coaching role. He identified the Islanders’ 30th-ranked power play as his top priority heading into training camp, while praising Calder Trophy winner Matthew Schaefer as a future captain candidate. Connor Bedard Hopes Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago
Fresh off signing his extension with Chicago, Connor Bedard made clear at a press scrum Monday where he wants Patrick Kane to spend what is expected to be his final NHL seasons: back with the Blackhawks. Canada Names Coaching Staff for 2027 World Junior Championship
Hockey Canada announced its coaching staff for the 2027 World Junior Championship on Monday. Misha Donskov takes over as head coach, promoted from associate head coach at the 2026 tournament. He will be joined on the bench by assistants Drew Bannister, Jim Hulton, and Brad Lauer, along with Ryan Getzlaf, who transitions from senior advisor to an on-bench assistant role. Getzlaf registered 1,019 points over 1,157 NHL games and won two Olympic gold medals during his playing career. Top prospects expected to compete for the team include 2026 first-overall pick Gavin McKenna and projected 2027 first-overall selection Landon DuPont.
