Sal Stewart Breaks Reds Rookie RBI Record in 10-8 Win Over Cubs
Rookie third baseman Sal Stewart rewrote the Cincinnati Reds record books at Wrigley Field on Friday, finishing with 29 home runs and 102 RBIs on the season as the Reds pulled away for a 10-8 victory over the Cubs. Stewart’s 102 RBIs surpassed Jim Greengrass’s club-record 100 set in 1953 for the most by a Reds rookie in a single season. Tyler Stephenson provided the key blow, a three-run home run (his 13th) in the sixth inning that expanded Cincinnati’s lead to 7-3. Michael Harris II delivered one of his finest performances of the season on Friday, doubling twice and blasting his 22nd home run to power the Atlanta Braves past the Colorado Rockies, 6-4. Harris, who leads the major leagues with 15 doubles since the All-Star break, knocked in an RBI double in the second inning before connecting for a two-run homer in the fifth to extend Atlanta’s lead to 6-3. Ronald Acuña Jr. dazzled with a spectacular sliding catch in the outfield, and the Braves received another strong performance from their starting pitching. Atlanta holds firm atop the NL East at 79-55.

Three Home Runs Power Blue Jays to 8-1 Rout of Mariners
The Toronto Blue Jays erupted for eight runs and three home runs in a dominant 8-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre on Friday. Dylan Cease led Toronto’s charge from the mound while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sparked the offense with an RBI double in the first inning. Nathan Lukes homered for the 10th time this season in the fifth, George Springer followed with his 14th of the year in the same inning, and Kazuma Okamoto launched his 27th in the sixth. Hunter Brown Fans 10, Astros Down Mets 3-1
Hunter Brown was magnificent Friday at Citi Field, striking out 10 batters as the Houston Astros beat the New York Mets, 3-1. Brown scattered two hits through the early innings, and the Astros broke through in the sixth when Daulton Varsho laced a two-run single to give Houston a 2-1 lead, followed by Yainer Díaz’s RBI single that made it 3-1. Carson Benge had driven in the Mets’ only run with an RBI double in the fourth. Josh Hader worked the ninth inning and fanned Luis Robert Jr. to earn the save. The Astros improve to 67-67.

Brewers Extend NL Central Lead with 4-1 Victory Over Rangers
The Milwaukee Brewers continued their dominant run through August, downing the Texas Rangers 4-1 at American Family Field on Friday to extend their NL Central lead. Logan Henderson was sharp on the mound for Milwaukee. William Contreras had a big night at the plate, driving in two runs to pace the Brewers’ offense, while Christian Yelich knocked in a run with a double in the first inning. Danny Jansen’s third-inning solo home run provided Texas’s lone run. Milwaukee improves to 83-51; their NL Central lead now stands at seven games over the second-place Cubs.
