Cardinals Hit Five Home Runs, Rout Defending Champion Dodgers 13-8
The St. Louis Cardinals launched five home runs and cruised to a 13-8 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, opening a nine-game home stand for LA in the worst possible fashion. Ramon Urias homered in the second inning to get things going, and the Cardinals exploded for five runs in the third inning behind Ivan Herrera and a string of hits. Starting pitcher Eric Lauer was tagged for seven runs through just three innings. The Cardinals outhomered the Dodgers five to zero on the evening and produced an offensive performance that overwhelmed the defending World Series champions.

Luzardo, Harper Lead Phillies Past Diamondbacks; Philadelphia Now Three Back in NL East
Bryce Harper reached base five times — with four singles and a walk — and Jesus Luzardo pitched six and two-thirds innings to lead the Philadelphia Phillies past the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1 on Tuesday night. The Phillies have won 15 of their last 17 games and now trail the Atlanta Braves by just three games in the NL East. Luzardo improved to 13-5 with a 1.76 ERA in 15 road starts this season. Harper extended his on-base streak to 34 games, including a surprise bunt single in the first inning. Philadelphia never trailed and led 2-0 after the opening frame.

Brewers Survive Outfield Collision, Rally from 3-0 Down to Beat Cubs 9-4
The Milwaukee Brewers extended their NL Central lead to eight games over the Cubs after surviving a frightening outfield collision at Wrigley Field and rallying to win 9-4 on Tuesday night. Left fielder Jackson Chourio, shortstop Cooper Pratt and third baseman Joey Ortiz all converged on a Michael Busch pop fly in the sixth inning, with Pratt absorbing the hardest blows. All three players remained in the game. Trailing 3-0 after four innings, Milwaukee scored nine runs over the next four frames. Christian Yelich and Ortiz each hit two-run homers, and the Brewers outhit Chicago 13-6.
Gavin Williams Fans Career-High 13 as Guardians Beat Blue Jays 6-1
Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams struck out a career-high 13 batters and allowed just two singles in seven innings to lead Cleveland to a 6-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. Williams improved to 13-7 on the season, recording his 10th double-digit strikeout game. He did not give up a hit until the fourth inning and struck out the side in the seventh, fanning five of his final six batters faced. Patrick Bailey, rookie Angel Genao and Angel Martinez each hit two-run home runs for the Guardians, who have gone 11-4 since August 12.

Lewis and Jeffers Power 10-Run Sixth Inning as Twins Rout Tigers 15-2
Royce Lewis and Ryan Jeffers each hit three-run home runs during a 10-run sixth inning as the Minnesota Twins routed the Detroit Tigers 15-2 on Tuesday night. Starter Connor Prielipp struck out five over five scoreless innings for the win, and Kody Clemens homered for the second consecutive game. Kalen Culpepper added two hits and three RBIs for the Twins, who won their third straight game after losing seven of eight. The 10-run inning was the second of the season for Minnesota and the 12th in club history. Detroit has now lost 14 of its last 17 games.

Lázaro Montes Homers in MLB Debut as Mariners End Five-Game Skid with 9-6 Win
Lazaro Montes homered in his major league debut — a 407-foot shot to center in the fifth inning — and Randy Arozarena crushed a three-run homer during a five-run second inning as the Seattle Mariners ended a five-game losing streak with a 9-6 win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Montes, promoted from Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the day, also walked and scored in the first inning and added an RBI single in the second. Bryan Woo pitched six strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Boston starter Jedixson Paez was charged with five runs in the second inning of his first career start.

Peralta Dominates Former Team as Rays Even Series with Mets 6-2
Freddy Peralta retired 17 of 18 batters after the first inning, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field to even the series. After Francisco Lindor homered in the opening frame, Peralta kept New York hitless for the remainder of his outing, striking out seven. The Mets went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and struck out 11 times. Victor Mesa Jr. led Tampa Bay’s offense with three hits. The Rays, who lead the AL East at 82-55, extended their advantage over the second-place New York Yankees.

Rumfield Homer Ends Colorado’s Franchise-Record Home Losing Streak in 4-2 Win Over Orioles
T.J. Rumfield broke a seventh-inning tie with a two-run homer and the Colorado Rockies ended their franchise-record 10-game home losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night at Coors Field. Adael Amador also went deep for Colorado, which had not won at home since an 8-1 victory over Kansas City on August 2. Baltimore’s Jackson Holliday tied the game with a solo homer off winning pitcher Jaden Hill in the seventh before Rumfield connected off rookie reliever Luis De León, who was making his major league debut. Holliday finished with three hits for the Orioles.
Padres Add Top Prospect Ethan Salas to Roster for September Push
The San Diego Padres promoted 20-year-old catcher Ethan Salas from Triple-A as part of September roster expansion, adding the organization’s top prospect for the final push of the season. Salas will be the youngest active player in the big leagues. He hit .286 with seven home runs and 37 RBIs across 72 Double-A games before earning a promotion to Triple-A in late July, where he batted .326 with a .949 OPS. The Padres, sitting at 73-65 and 9.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West, are in contention for a wild-card berth heading into September.
