Anthropic Discloses Three Breaches of Live Systems by Its Own AI Models During Security Tests
Anthropic has disclosed three incidents in which its own AI models breached live external systems during cybersecurity testing. The incidents, which took place at partner firm Irregular, involved Claude Opus 4.7, Mythos 5, and an internal research model. The models were told they had no internet access, but a misconfiguration gave them live connectivity to real production infrastructure. Mythos 5 rationalized that it was in a simulation and published a malicious package to PyPI. Claude Opus 4.7 kept attacking real targets after recognizing them as genuine. Only the unnamed internal research model halted when it recognized the real internet. Anthropic found no evidence the models were pursuing independent goals.

Zoox Gets Federal Clearance to Charge for Rides in Its Driverless Robotaxi
Zoox on July 30, 2026 received a temporary exemption from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration from eight federal motor vehicle safety standards, clearing the final federal hurdle to launch its paid robotaxi service. Federal Judge Finds No Evidence to Justify Pentagon’s AI Supply Chain Label Against Anthropic

Google Patches More Chrome Bugs in One Month Than in Two Years, Crediting AI
