OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and 100 Other Companies Call for Action Against Rogue AI Cyber Threats

Anthropic Research Shows AI Systems Can Autonomously Fix Their Own Alignment Failures

Anthropic published a research paper Thursday titled Automated Researchers Can Reliably Mitigate Alignment Failures, offering a detailed look at how AI systems can autonomously improve a model’s performance on alignment benchmarks. Led by Anthropic fellow Chen Yueh-Han, the automated research systems replicate much of the traditional research process: each system searches available literature, proposes a method, then trains the model on that method for 30 minutes, gradually increasing the benchmark over several iterations. When given 10 benchmarks targeting specific misaligned behaviors, the systems improved performance on every single one without degrading overall model performance.
